  • Patent number: 5925155
Abstract: A rotary drum air filter has a drive tire where a rubber tire runs against a drive rim attached to the drum co-axial therewith. A seal on the forward part of the drum rides upon a conic section on the scroll. Differential air pressure across the drum holds the seal against the conic section on the scroll. A unitary rigid manifold with a plurality of pipes is mounted for rotation about its longitudinal axis. Therefore, by rotation of the manifold, nozzles in the pipes can be exposed for adjustment and inspection. Nozzle tips in each the pipes extending from the manifold are adjustable so as to regulate the distance from the lip of the nozzle tip to the surface of the drum. For use with an atmosphere heavily laden with lint, a two-part nozzle is used so that the leading edge of the nozzle can be spaced away from the filter medium on the drum surface to accommodate a thick layer of lint which accumulated on the drum surface.

  • Patent number: 5827338
Abstract: A filter cleaning apparatus for removing dust and debris from a stationary filter having a dust an debris collecting surface. The apparatus includes a longitudinally extending duct having a lengthwise slot formed therein. A belt in the duct extends across the slot whereby the duct and the belt together define a plenum. The belt has an opening formed therein adjacent the slot and in fluid communication with the plenum. The belt is mounted for movement along the slot such that the opening may be repositioned along the length of the slot. A nozzle is mounted on the belt for movement therewith and extends outwardly from the belt. The nozzle has an inlet distal from the belt. The inlet has a width substantially transverse to the length of the slot which is greater than a corresponding width of the opening in the belt. The inlet is in fluid communication with the opening and thereby the plenum. The apparatus further includes drive means for moving the belt along the slot.

  • Patent number: 5516426
Abstract: A continuous, self-cleaning rotary filtering system is herein provided which includes a plurality of filtering elements within a rotatable filter housing adapted for rotation between an inlet plate having single or multiple inlet ports and an outlet plate having single or multiple outlet ports so that a substance to be filtered is passed from the inlet ports through at least one incomplete toroidal cavity within the inlet and outlet plates, through the filter elements and into the outlet ports. The apparatus is further provided with single or multiple backflushing capabilities, whereby, when the filter housing is rotated passed a single or multiple backflush port, a cleaning agent will be caused to flow backward through at least one of the filter elements and backflush ports to purge contaminants from the system via the backflush port or ports without interrupting the stream flow or pressure of the substance to be filtered.

  • Patent number: 4830642
Abstract: A filter system comprises a filter unit and a cleaning unit which cleans the filter unit while the filter unit is operating normally. The filter unit is compartmentalized. During cleaning, an individual compartment is isolated between a pair of ducts of the cleaning unit and is cleaned by applying pulses of a cleaning fluid to one of the ducts and suction to the other duct. The filter unit is rotatable relative to the cleaning unit to align successive compartments of the filter unit with the cleaning unit.
