Abstract: A gas-liquid-solids separation system for use with a drilling device includes a surge tank for holding drilling efflux comprising gas, liquid and solids, and adapted for mounting on a drilling device in a position for having a drill shaft extending therethrough. A stuffing box attached to a back side of the surge tank means and configured for enabling passage of the drill shaft therethrough prevents the drilling efflux from escaping the surge tank. A flange attached to the front side of the surge tank and aligned with the stuffing box for allowing passage of the drill shaft therethrough provides a seal between the surge tank and a borehole casing to enable the drilling efflux to flow into the surge tank means. An agitator disposed within the surge tank maintains suspension of the solids within the liquid, and a gas cyclone in fluid communication with the surge tank withdraws gas from the surge tank and separates any entrained liquid therefrom.

Abstract: The method and means of this invention comprises discharging a suspension of solids (inert or catalytic) in gasiform material (whether hydrocarbon vapors, combustion product flue gases, stripping gases or combinations thereof) from a riser contact zone through a plurality of radiating confined passageway emanating from the upper discharge periphery of the riser each of which is in tangential communication at the outer end of the confined passageway with a cylinder open in the bottom end thereof. The cylinder is closed at the top except for a coaxially aligned conduit of smaller diameter extending downwardly through said cylinder with its bottom open end terminating adjacent a lower portion of the inlet of the confined passageway.
Abstract: A waste collector for a sewing machine uses first and second different collection boxes, the second of which has a larger diameter suction hose than the first. The box having the larger diameter suction hose is coupled to the blower motor only through the first box via an airflow path which is more restricted than that of the larger suction hose.
Abstract: A system, apparatus and method for unloading dry, bulk, particulate material from a ship, barge or the like into a pressure vessel and thereafter transferring the material into a storage container such as a silo. A venturi has primary and secondary inlets with the primary inlet connected to a blower and the secondary inlet connected to the pressure vessel. Air from the blower is forced through the venturi primary inlet to create a flow of primary air through the venturi and to induce a suction at the venturi secondary inlet. The suction is coupled to the pressure vessel thus drawing the particulate material into the pressure vessel. After the pressure vessel is full, air from the blower is forced into the pressure vessel to transfer the material from the pressure vessel to the silo. The steps of filling the pressure vessel and transferring the material from the pressure vessel to the silo are repeated in alternating sequence.

Abstract: A separator for an air compressor to separate aqueous vapor and oil gas from an air stream in which air from a compressor is directed into a casing and onto a conically converging member disposed in a protective sleeve, the impingement effecting separation. The air then passes through a zig-zag shaped tube extending from the sleeve bottom and impinges on an L-shaped plate to effect more separation. The liquid accumulates in the bottom of the casing to which a transparent tube is connected for indicating the liquid level. The separated air passes to the casing outlet via a round tube having a screw rod therein to provide final separation.
Abstract: An injector type cooling apparatus is disclosed wherein multiple flat liquid sprays are directed into a conduit of uniform cross-section to draw cooling air into and through the conduit for mixture with and heat transfer from the liquid. The discharge end of the conduit is fitted with mist eliminators, in addition, holes or slots fitted with mist eliminators are provided in the conduit roof or sides downstream of the liquid sprays. These holes or slots cause increased air flow which results in improved cooling apparatus performance.

Abstract: In a reactant-fluid catalyst suspension system, an arrangement of apparatus is provided contiguous with a riser discharge which centrifugally initially separates the suspension into a solids phase and a gasiform material phase prior to discharge from the riser. The catalyst may be further stripped if desired in equipment above and about the riser discharge. The arrangement contributes substantially to the efficiency and economics of the separation of catalyst from gasiform products including products of hydrocarbon conversion and combustion products of catalyst regeneration.
Abstract: A process is disclosed for the separation of the components of a gaseous mixture which makes use of two nozzles, through which the mixture is caused to flow, placed in opposition to each other in a manner as to produce curvature of the flow of the interacting jets. Under the conditions of high velocity and streamline curvature the induced pressure gradients cause the preferential migration of one or more components of the gaseous mixture with respect to the others. The spatially separated components are removed in separate streams from the region of the interacting jets.
Abstract: An uranium-separating apparatus having a cascade of separating stages disposed in a single unit comprises an upright column with a bottom portion, intermediate portion and top portion, subdivided by partitions into sectors.
