Spaced Interior Inflow Path Or With Means Modifying Gas Flow In Bag Patents (Class 55/368)
  • Patent number: 11872576
Abstract: A nozzle for a filter cleaning system has a stub portion having an inlet opening and an outlet opening, and a splitter portion positioned downstream of the stub portion. The splitter portion has deflector surfaces arranged to direct the airflow exiting the stub portion outlet in 3 or more different/separate airstreams each of which airstreams are directed inclined axially outwardly from the axial direction of the airflow exiting the stub portion outlet opening. The various parameters of the splitter nozzle portion can be tailored to provide required jet shape and entrainment characteristics. A beneficial feature of the nozzle designs is that jet entrainment and recombination of flows can be specified for different shaped filters.

  • Patent number: 8337580
Abstract: The present invention is a device that rapidly and effectively separates and collects debris from airflow between a debris source and a vacuum source. The device comprises a first chamber situated above and adjoining a second chamber. The first chamber functions to separate and remove the debris and the second chamber functions to collect the debris. The first chamber is circular in cross-section and comprises an upper portion and a downward and outward sloping sidewall. The upper portion has an output port connected by a first conduit to the vacuum source and the sidewall has an input port connected by a second conduit to the debris source. Air and debris are drawn into the first chamber through the input port by suction created at the output port. The debris is centrifugally forced to the sidewall whereby it is then centripetally forced downward into the second chamber through a peripheral opening between the sidewall and a barrier, while cleaned air is evacuated through the output port.

Abstract: An output duct extension for attachment to an upright vacuum cleaner output sleeve or collar. The output duct extension is constructed to be insertable into the paper fill tube of a disposable paper filler bag. The output duct extension is of a longitudinal length such that when it is inserted into the fill tube and the paper filler bag is contained in a fabric fuller bag of the vacuum cleaner the upper end of the output duct extension is positioned at the approximate top end of the fill tube.

  • Patent number: 6342084
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner apparatus (10) is provided which includes a vacuum motor (16), an air pervious membrane (26) and an air pervious material collection bag (22). The vacuum motor (16) is arranged to draw air downwardly in turn through the bag (22), the membrane (26) and the motor (16) so that, in use, the bag (22) retains material entrained in the air. There is also provided a spacing means (28) located intermediate the membrane (26) and the bag (22) for orienting the bag such that a first portion (35) of the bag is adjacent the membrane and a second portion (32) of the bag is spaced from the membrane.

Abstract: A fitting for a vacuum cleaner is disclosed. The fitting includes a retainer having first and second grooves within which a fitting is adapted to slide. The fitting includes a plate from which a cylinder extends and terminates in a radially inwardly directed deflector. Depending upon the orientation of the fitting within the retainer, the incoming fluid stream is directed in an upward or downward direction to thereby facilitate usage of the fitting with or without a vacuum bag, while at the same time minimizing the potential for splashing and expulsion of liquid drawn into the vacuum cleaner.

  • Patent number: 6179889
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner filter bag retainer includes slots on each side which receive a cardboard plate attached to a filter bag. The plate is slid into the slots of the filter bag retainer such that openings in the plate and bag match with an opening in the filter bag retainer. The retainer is attached to a tank through an opening in the tank, and an inlet fitting extends from outside the tank, through the retainer, and into the bag. The inlet fitting, therefore, prevents the bag from sliding out of the slots in the retainer. A swivel fitting loosely traps the inlet fitting adjacent the filter bag retainer through threads on the swivel fitting and the retainer. The inlet fitting also holds a hose to the inlet fitting.

  • Patent number: 6146434
Abstract: A cyclonic dirt cup assembly for a vacuum cleaner has a generally conical truncated cone positioned within a dirt cup of the vacuum cleaner. The dirt cup has a wall formed with an air inlet opening for receiving a stream of dirt-laden air within the dirt cup. The cone is pivotally connected to a frame member which is removably mounted within the dirt cup. A baffle extends outwardly from a wall of the cone and is positioned adjacent the air inlet opening of the dirt cup for directing the stream of dirt-laden air in a cyclonic manner. The baffle includes a top wall, a side wall and a bottom wall. The baffle walls, the wall of the dirt cup and a wall of the cone form an air directing compartment which receives the dirt-laden air input through the inlet opening.

  • Patent number: 5961676
Abstract: A hard bag cleaner door is disclosed having air directing rib vanes integral with its inner surface. These vanes take the form of, alternately, angled J-shaped ribs and short straight interleaved ribs. All the ribs are stepped so that the flow passage for air moving along the interior side of the bag door diverges as more bag air is introduced to it so that it directs efficiently air flow to a lower disposed motor-fan section of an adjoining hard bag portion. In a second embodiment, an exhaust opening is formed in the hard bag cleaner door below the air directing rib vanes and is covered by a final filter and final filter door. The air moving along the interior side of the bag door is directed out the exhaust opening, through the final filter which filters small dust particles which may be present in the exhaust air and out vent openings formed in the final filter door.

Abstract: My invention comprises a two element filter bag which includes a cylindrical outer element, a generally tubular inner element, a joining means, a securing means, and a diverting means. Cylindrical outer element is hollow, constructed of suitable filter media, and has first and second open ends. Tubular inner element is also hollow, constructed of suitable filter media, and has one closed end and one open end. Tubular inner element is positioned within cylindrical outer element so that the first open end of the outer element is generally coplanar with the closed end of the inner element, and the second open end of the outer element is generally coplanar with the open end of the inner element. Joining means joins the second open end of the outer element to the open end of the inner element. Supporting means is positioned within the inner element through open inner element end and provides support to inner element.
