Abstract: A non-round unitary filter cartridge according to the present invention is provided having a unitary structure with pleated filter media formed securely about a perforated interior core. Opposite ends of the pleated filter media and perforated core are integrally formed with a bottom end cap and a flexible upper collar. The flexible upper collar is formed of a flexible molding compound which is deformable to pass through an opening in a tube sheet which retains the filter cartridge. The perforated core is oblong in configuration, having first and second parallel major side surfaces and first and second rounded outer ends. The flexible collar is elliptical in cross-section and has an outwardly facing groove located at the top of the barrel portion for sealably receiving a periphery of the tube sheet aperture.

  • Patent number: 5688298
Abstract: A vacuum bag for use with a vacuum device having a dirty air vacuum inlet has a conventional self-sealing collar including a pair of apertured planar panels, an apertured resilient membrane therebetween, and a finger extending at least partially across the outer panel aperture. However the collar is made self-aligning with a vacuum inlet by adding a third planar panel disposed parallel to and outwardly of the pair of panels. The third panel defines a respective third aperture therethrough configured and dimensioned for receipt of a vacuum inlet therethrough and aligned with the apertures of the pair of panels. The third aperture is of a thickness to facilitate blind placement of the collar on a vacuum inlet. In a combination of the bag and a vacuum device, the dirty air inlet extends through the three panel apertures as well as the membrane aperture of the collar.

  • Patent number: 5672273
Abstract: A filter arrangement which is employed in a fluid conduit is formed of a filter formed of a permeable filter material connected to a flange seal having an annular portion for engaging with and coupling to the permeable filter medium, and a planar portion for forming a seal which prevents leakage at a flange-type coupler. The planar and annular portions of the flange seal are formed of teflon, as is the filter itself, which may be formed of multiple layers of teflon fabric or filter material, each having a respective filter permeability characteristic. The filter is coupled to the annular portion of the flange seal by a thread which is sewn through the various layers of the filter medium and the annular portion of the flange seal. The thread may itself be formed of teflon, such that the entire filter arrangement is formed of teflon and will resist corrosion. Collapse of the filter is prevented by a rigid tubular support which has apertures therethrough to facilitate flow of the fluid.

  • Patent number: 5472465
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner filter bag has a connection member, whose side edge parts are adapted to be inserted into holding grooves in the vacuum cleaner. A substantially tabular or plate-like, board-like, stiff main body of the connection member possesses a fitting opening for fitting same onto the connector tube of a vacuum cleaner. The main body carries and guides a closing slide with a passage opening, which is able to be drawn out from an open position clearing the fitting opening into a closed setting by way of a handle part. On the side edge parts there is respectively a holding rail able to be inserted into the adjacent vacuum cleaner groove, such holding rail extending from the front to the rear as far as a rail attachment point. The holding rails are connected with the main body at the rail attachment point but otherwise separated or separable from the same.

The main body guides a closing slide with a passage opening, which by way of a handle part is able to be moved out from an open position clearing the fitting opening into the closed position. • Patent number: 5092915
Abstract: A disposable dust bag for vacuum cleaners includes a mounting collar removably mounted on a vacuum cleaner connector through which dirt-laden air is delivered to the dust bag. The connector has a generally cylindrical outlet end and peripherally spaced projections extending from the outer surface thereof. The collar provides an opening sized to closely fit the outlet through the majority of its peripheral extent and which provides peripherally spaced enlarged portions adapted to clear the projections on the connector when the bag is installed and removed. The collar also provides an elastomeric diaphragm that tightly fits around the projections and forms a lip seal with the connector to prevent leakage of dirt-laden air back along the connector. An adaptor which fits on and grips the connector permits use of disposable bags with mounting structures not directly couplable with the connector.
