Abstract: According to the present disclosure gas/liquid separator assemblies, such as crankcase ventilation filter assemblies, and components are described. Also described are liquid flow control arrangements for facilitating liquid flow from a region of first effective pressure to a region of second higher effective pressure are described. In examples, the flow control arrangements are configured so they can be used in association with a gas/liquid separator, managing separation of liquids from crankcase ventilation gases, for example for internal combustion engines. Example arrangements are described, used with crankcase ventilation gas filter assemblies. Combinations of equipment, and various components usable in those combinations, are described.

  • Patent number: 8790433
Abstract: A moisture separator where a corrugated plate 43 is provided with a collecting plate 49 formed to cover a flat portion 74 and an upstream end of a slope portion disposed on a downstream side of the flat portion 74. The collecting plate 74 has an opening which opens to an upstream side in the direction of the wet steam flow S1. The collecting plate 49 is fixed to the slope portion at a base end. Between the collecting plate 49 and a body portion of the corrugated plate, a pocket section 47 and a drain duct section 48 are formed. The moisture contained in the wet steam S1 turns into droplets and enters the pocket section 47 and the drain duct section 48 from the opening of the collecting plate 49 and falls down the pocket section 47 and the drain duct section 48 respectively by gravity.

Abstract: Embodiments may provide an oil separator that may include a reservoir attached to a bottom of the oil separator to collect oil that passes from the oil separator. An outlet may be located on the reservoir and may be positioned to allow oil at or above the outlet to overflow from the reservoir and to flow, or drip, toward an engine cylinder head. The oil separator may also include a tube located at least partially inside the reservoir formed within the bottom to pass the oil into the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 8764867
Abstract: An oil flow management system reduces the amount of oil directed from an aircraft engine to the environment outside of the aircraft, even when the aircraft is in inverted flight. This decreases the amount of oil that becomes attached to exterior surfaces of the aircraft fuselage. A gaseous mixture including air and oil is directed from the aircraft engine to a separator, which separate the mixture into a gaseous component and an oil component. The oil component is directed from the separator to a reservoir via a unidirectional valve. When in a first orientation, the unidirectional valve allows oil to flow from the separator to the reservoir. However, when in a second orientation, the unidirectional valve blocks oil from flowing from the reservoir to the separator.

  • Patent number: 8747504
Abstract: Embodiments of a gas-solids separation unit and embodiments of a method for manufacturing a separation unit are provided. In one embodiment, the separation unit includes a cyclonic separator and a vessel having a flue gas chamber, a clean gas chamber, and an entrained solids chamber between the flue gas chamber and the clean gas chamber. The cyclonic separator includes, in turn, a cyclone barrel extending from the flue gas chamber toward the clean gas chamber, a swirl vane positioned across the cyclone barrel, a gas outlet tube fluidly coupling the cyclone barrel to the clean gas chamber, and a first check valve opening formed through the barrel sidewall upstream of the gas outlet tube. The check valve opening fluidly couples the cyclone barrel to the entrained solids chamber to permit the centrifugal separation of the particulate matter from the gas stream during operation of the gas-solids separation unit.
