Abstract: The subject of the present invention is a weakly corrosive and weakly coloured sulfonic acid, with an APHA colour index of less than 20, comprising chlorides and nitrites in a chloride/sulfonic acid molar ratio of between 1 ppm and 200 ppm, and a nitrite/sulfonic acid molar ratio of between 200 ppm and 6000 ppm, limits inclusive.
Abstract: The present embodiments herein generally relate to thermoset resins that are derived from vegetable oil based sources, including fibrous plant sources. The utilization of plant based oil as starting materials makes the technology a green alternative to currently available solutions. This, coupled with the novel synthetic methods that are utilized, results in a transformation of the plant based oils into useful, durable, and resilient thermoset resins.
Abstract: A composition comprising an oil selected from the group consisting of vegetable oils, animal oils, and krill oil in an amount sufficient to lower the peroxide index of the composition. The composition may preferably comprise a fish oil also having astaxanthin added thereto.
Abstract: A process for producing powder, flakes, or pellets containing ?-sulfo fatty acid alkylester salt in high concentrations, the process including: (1) a step of preparing a paste containing ?-sulfo fatty acid alkylester salt; (2) a step of aging the thus obtained paste; (3) a step of making the aged paste into flakes or pellets containing equal to or less than 10 wt % of water and then optionally crushing the resulting flakes or pellets into a powder having an average particle diameter of 100-1500 ?m; and (4) a step of aging The powder, flakes, or pellets.
Abstract: A solvent extraction free, caustic refining free, process for producing refined soybean oil from soybeans includes the steps of heating cleaned, cracked and dehulled soybeans at a temperature of from 220° F. to 600° F. for from 45 to 60 minutes; mechanically pressing the heated soybeans to separate soybean oil; and heating the extracted oil at a temperature of from about 350° F. to about 500° F. under a vacuum to remove free fatty acids from the soybean oil.
Abstract: A process for improving the color and purity of dark-colored potassium or magnesium alkyl ester sulfonate surfactant compositions, and particularly alpha-sulfo fatty acid methyl ester compositions, without the need for bleaching or other process steps. The process comprises the steps of (1) forming a mixture comprising (i) an alkyl ester sulfonate surfactant composition containing impurities including dark-colored impurities, organic and inorganic salts, and disalts, and (ii) water, and (2) separating the ester sulfonate surfactant from the mixture. The process may further comprise step (3) recovering the alkyl ester sulfonate surfactant. Methyl ester sulfonate surfactant compositions are most preferred. After processing in accordance with the invention, the alkyl ester sulfonate surfactant composition has improved color, purity, and odor properties.
