Abstract: The process of direct synthesis of trifluoromethyl copper and trifluoromethyl aromatics, both intermediate reagents useful in direct synthesis of certain perfluoroalkyl compounds. The process involves a direct reaction between on the one hand an aromatic halide and a difluorodihalomethane and on the other hand copper and a difluorodihalomethane.

Abstract: A process for making ammonolytic precursors to nitride and carbonitride ceramics. Extreme reaction conditions are not required and the precursor is a powder-like substance that produces ceramics of improved purity and morphology upon pyrolysis.
Abstract: Agglomerates of spheroidal masses of malachite crystals are prepared so that they contain silicic acid. These agglomerates can be used to prepare a copper-acetylide complex, which in turn can be used as a catalyst for the preparation of 1,4-butynediol from acetylene and formaldehyde.
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel compounds, vitamin supplements, diet pills, and methods for making the same. The vitamin supplements include one or more phytosterol esters, such as esters of sitosterol or stigmasterol, and/or one or more novel substiuted fructose compounds. The diet pills within the scope of the invention include antitrypsin, and may be combined with the vitamin supplements to provide diet vitamin supplements.
Abstract: The basic single step process for preparing trifluoromethyl organocadmium and zinc compounds from difluorodihalomethane is disclosed. The prepared trifluoromethyl compound may be used to add the trifluoromethyl to a variety of organic structures in a trifluoromethylating reaction. Among the structures included are aromatic compounds, halo olefins, allylic compounds, acetylenic compounds and acyl halides.

Abstract: A stabilized graphite intercalation product can be formed by sequential intercalation of graphite. Graphite is initially intercalated with an alkali metal (M). The unstable alkali metal intercalation compound is then intercalated with an organic acid (R) to form a room temperature stable, graphite intercalation containing a metal charge transfer salt of the type M.sup.+ R.sup.-.
Abstract: A polydentate binucleating ligand having at least four donor sites selected from N, O and S, complexed with two atoms of the same metal, forms a coordination complex useful in homogeneous catalysis. Most preferably, all the metal cations are Cu cations and the ligand has a meta-xylyl functionality.
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel compounds, vitamin supplements, diet pills, and methods for making the same. The vitamin supplements include one or more phytosterol esters, such as esters of sitosterol or stigmasterol, and/or one or more novel substituted fructose compounds. The diet pills within the scope of the invention include antitrypsin, and may be combined with the vitamin supplements to provide diet vitamin supplements.

Abstract: A boron-containing heterocyclic compound prepared by reacting a primary amine or ammonia with an alkylene oxide or epoxide and then reacting concurrently or subsequently this reaction intermediate with a boric acid. This boron-containing heterocyclic compound may further be reacted with a metal, metalloid or other metal compound and even further contain sulfur, such as a sulfide group. The boron-containing heterocyclic compound provides extreme pressure anti-wear properties when provided in a lubricating composition. The lubricating composition may also comprise anti-oxidants, copper corrosion inhibitors, and lead corrosion inhibitors. The anti-wear properties of a lubricating composition can be enhanced using the borates of the present invention in conjunction with a copper compound.
