Abstract: Amide compounds useful as additives in lubricating fluids as extreme pressure/antiwear agents are produced on a manufacturing scale. The amides are produced by simultaneously adding together and reacting a phosphorus-containing acid and aqueous acrylamide. Substantially equal molar amounts of the phosphorus-containing acid and the aqueous acrylamide are added together with sufficient cooling to maintain the reaction at a temperature below 50.degree. C. After isolation, the reaction product obtained is preferably further reacted with a coupling agent, preferably paraformaldehyde.
Abstract: Herbicidal compounds of formula: ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 denotes an optionally halogenated alkyl radical containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms,R denotes the hydrogen atom or an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms,R.sup.2 denotes the hydrogen atom or R.sup.21,R.sup.21 and R.sup.3 denotes optionally substituted aryl radicals,R.sup.4 denotes a hydrogen atom or a hydrogenolysable group R.sup.8,and the agriculturally acceptable salts of these compounds.
Abstract: Preparation of compounds with herbicidal properties, of formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydrocarbon radical;R represents a hydrogen atm or a hydrocarbon radical; andR.sup.22 represents a hydrogen atom, an aryl radical, or a substituted aryl radical, said process being characterized in that hydrogenation of compounds of formula ##STR2## wherein R, R.sup.1 and R.sup.22 have the same meaning as in formula (IIa), R.sup.32 represents an aryl radical, or substituted aryl radical, and R.sup.4 represents a hydrogen atom or an R.sup.8 group which can be hydrogenolyzed, is carried out.
Abstract: Process for the preparation of L-homoalanin-4-yl(methyl)-phosphinic acid (esters) of the formula I ##STR1## (R, R.sub.1 =H, alkyl) or salts thereof by reacting an R-3-isopropyl-2,5-dialkoxy-3,6-dihydropyrazine of the formula II with a .beta.-halogenoethyl(methyl)phosphinic acid ester of the formula IV ##STR2## (R', R.sub.1 '=alkyl) to give compounds of the formula V ##STR3## and then subjecting the latter to hydrolytic cleavage.
Abstract: 1-[(Diorganooxyphosphonyl)methyl]-2,4- and -2,6-dinitro- and diamino benzenes are prepared by nitrating an (organophosphonyl)methyl benzene to produce The dinitro compounds which are then reduced to the diamino compounds. The organo groups (alkyl, haloalkyl, aryl) on the phosphorus may be removed to give the free acids, (HO).sub.2 P(.dbd.O)--. The diamino compounds may be polymerized with dianhydrides or diacyl halides to produce fire and flame resistant polymers which are useful in the manufacture of aircraft structures.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of a glyphosate product. An .alpha.-substituted N-phosphonomethylamino diacetic acid substrate is contacted in an aqueous medium with molecular oxygen in the presence of a catalyst for the oxidative cleavage of a substituent from the imino nitrogen of the substrate. Cleavage produces a glyphosate product, carbon dioxide, a higher aldehyde, or ketone. Novel intermediates and methods of preparation thereof are also disclosed.
Abstract: There is disclosed a process for the preparation of N-phosphonomethylglycine by dealkylation of N-alkyl-N-phosphonomethylglycine. The N-alkyl moiety contains an electron withdrawing group in the 2-position. Certain novel N-alkyl-N-phosphonomethylglycines are disclosed.
Abstract: Novel herbicidal oxime derivatives of aryl glyphosate esters are described and claimed along with a process for producing such oxime derivatives.
