Abstract: A process for producing a halogen-containing phosphate ester includes the steps of: (i) reacting a phosphorus halide selected from the group consisting of phosphorus oxyhalides and phosphorus pentahalides with a halogen-containing hydroxy compound to obtain a reaction mixture including a halogen-containing phosphate ester, (ii) purifying the halogen-containing phosphate ester by adding an aqueous medium selected from the group consisting of water, neutral aqueous solutions, acidic aqueous solutions and basic aqueous solutions to the reaction mixture to crystallize the halogen-containing phosphate ester, and (iii) distilling waste water from the purification step.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing tris(tribromoneopentyl) phosphate (TTBNPP), which is of value as a flame retardant. The process comprises reacting tribromoneopentyl alcohol with a phosphorus oxyhalide in the presence of anhydrous aluminum chloride as catalyst in an organic solvent to give tris(tribromoneopentyl) phosphate characterized in that a basic magnesium salt is added to the reaction mixture at the completion of the reaction. Compared with the conventional production technology, the process of the invention is conducive to high production safety and insures a high yield and a high recovery rate through a simplified procedure.
Abstract: A process of preparing tribromoneopentyl chloroalkyl phosphates comprising a first step of reacting phosphorus oxychloride with tribromoneopentyl alcohol and a second step of reacting the resultant formed in the first step with an alkylene oxide after a step of removing hydrochloric acid and unreacted phosphorus oxychloride present in the first reaction mixture to obtain a compound represented by the formula (1): ##STR1## , wherein R represents a hydrogen atom, or an alkyl or chloroalkyl group and n is from 0.95 to 1.15.
Abstract: The present invention relates to fluorinated carboxylic acid esters of phosphono- and phosphinocarboxylic acids containing hydroxyl and/or mercapto groups, their use as waterproofing and/or oil-repellency agents, and a method for their preparation.

Abstract: Compounds for insecticidal control, having the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 is methyl or ethyl; R.sub.2 is C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 alkyl or bromo-C.sub.4 -alkyl and R.sub.3 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 bromoalkyl or 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl, together with insecticidal compositions containing such compounds, and methods for controlling insects.
Abstract: Herbicidally active thiocarbamates are employed in combination with certain mono-, di- or trihaloalkylphosphonodithioates, the latter in sufficient quantity to lessen the rate of soil degradation of the former. As a result, the herbicidal effectiveness of the thiocarbamate is significantly enhanced and prolonged, rendering a single application or multiple applications of the herbicide effective over a longer period of time. Such herbicidal compositions can optionally contain a non-phytotoxic antidotally effective amount of an amide of haloalkanoic or dihaloalkanoic acid. Also novel compounds trichloro- and bromodichloro- methylphosphonodithioates and the process for their preparation are disclosed.
