Abstract: The invention is related to the sphere technologies for desulfurization and demercaptanization of gaseous hydrocarbons. It can be used for purification of any gaseous hydrocarbon medium. The device includes a catalytic reactor loaded with a catalyst solution in an organic solvent, a means of withdrawal sulfur solution from the reactor into the sulfur-separating unit, and a sulfur-separating unit. The sulfur-separation unit includes a means of sulfur extraction. The reactor design and the catalyst composition provide conversion of at least 99.99% of hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans into sulfur and disulfides. The catalyst is composed of mixed-ligand complexes of transition metals. The technical result achieved by use of claimed invention is effectively a single-stage purification of gaseous hydrocarbons from hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans with remaining concentration of —SH down to 0.001 ppm while leaving no toxic waste.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing chlorothioformate comprising reacting an alkenyl mercaptan with phosgene in a reactor in the presence of a carboxylic acid amide in an organic solvent, characterized in that the carboxylic acid amide is preliminary charged to the reactor in an amount of 10 to 50% by weight based on the whole amount of the carboxylic acid amide, and subsequently, the compound of the formula (I), phosgene and the remaining carboxylic acid amide are charged to the reactor.
Abstract: The invention relates to a thio(meth)acrylic acid bisester of formula I ##STR1## where R.sub.1 represents hydrogen or methyl;r represents the number 0 or 1; ands, m, and n independently represent an integer from 2 to 6, with the proviso thatwhen r=0, s+n>4; andwhen r=1, s+m+n>6 useful as or monomer for high refractive index plastics.
Abstract: A method of producing perfluorocarbon halides in a one-pot reaction is described. The method employs a perfluorocarbon acid, a first halogenating agent and a second halogen which drives the reaction forward. Novel perfluorocarbon halides and a direct method for producing perfluorocarbon hypohalites also are described.
Abstract: The subject of the invention is a new process for the preparation of alkyl thiochloroformates. The process according to the invention consists in reacting phosgene with a mercaptan in the presence of a catalyst which is a hexaalkylguanidinium chloride or the corresponding hydrochloride of general formula: ##STR1## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 represent alkyl radicals containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms and in which n may take either the value 0 or the value 1.The preferred catalysts are hexamethylguanidinium chloride and its hydrochloride. The process according to the invention enables very pure alkyl thiochloroformates to be obtained with milder operating conditions and simplified purification operations.

Abstract: Phenyl chlorothioformates are produced in high yields easily and safely by (1) allowing sulfur dioxide to react with a mixed solution consisting of perchloromethyl mercaptan, an organic solvent and water, (2) removing the aqueous layer from the reaction mixture and (3) adding to the organic layer a phenol compound and a dehydrohalogenating agent in that order.
