  • Patent number: 5808047
Abstract: A process for the preparation of compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein Pg and R are protecting groups and B is a nucleobase. The process uses protected nucleobases to form 2,2'-anhydro nucleosides having the formula ##STR2## which are hydrolyzed to 2'-hydroxy intermediates which are then oxidized to the desired 2'-keto compounds. The compounds and intermediates are useful as antiviral and antitumor agents and as intermediates to 2,2'-anhydro-1-(.beta.-D-arabinofuranosyl)cytosine (anhydro-ara-C) and 1-.beta.-D-arabinofuranosylcytosine (Ara-C).

  • Patent number: 5706639
Abstract: A lawn mower includes an elongated forwardly open housing having an endless belt entrained therein about a pair of pulleys mounted at opposite ends of the housing. A plurality of C-shaped, channel-like cutting elements are mounted transversely on the outer surface of the belt to cut the lawn as the housing is moved across the lawn on a plurality of rollers. The housing is divided into a plurality of sections which are pivotally interconnected so that the housing sections may pivot relative to each other due to uneven ground. Guide members are provided within the housing to maintain the opposed reaches of the belt parallel to each other during such pivoting of the sections. The cutting elements may also be a plurality of wires embedded in the belt and extending outward from one side of the belt in the plane of the belt.

Abstract: A lawn mower includes an elongated downwardly open housing having an endless belt entrained therein about a pair of pulleys mounted at opposite ends of the housing. A plurality of C-shaped, channel-like blades are mounted transversely on the outer surface of the belt to cut the lawn as the housing is moved across the lawn on a plurality of rollers. The housing is divided into a plurality of sections which are pivotally interconnected so that the housing sections may pivot relative to each other due to uneven ground. Guide brackets are provided within the housing to maintain the opposed reaches of the belt parallel to each other during such pivoting of the sections.

  • Patent number: 5007235
Abstract: The bearing assembly includes a synthetic resinous collar which circumscribes the tube and oscillates therewith against the inside of a metal bushing wedged within a metal housing that is bolted to the adjacent tine tube carrier arm of the reel. The bushing is constructed from a pair of generally semicircular half-sections that are abutted together to make a complete annulus when held within the housing, thereby permitting removal of the bushing from the tube by simply separating the two half-sections from one another after the housing has been slipped axially off the end of the bushing. A slit in one side of the collar permits opposed wall portions thereof to be spread apart so that the collar may likewise be removed from the tube in a transverse direction rather than requiring axial movement along the tube which would be obstructed by crop-engaging tines of the reel.

  • Patent number: 4970849
Abstract: A pick-up header for a combine is designed to improve the control of the material from a windrow as it is picked up from the ground and transported to the feeder housing of the combine. Immediately rearwardly of the pick-up fingers is provided an air transportation device including a plurality of openings through which air is forced to carry the material rearwardly toward the feeder housing while allowing the escape of stones. Rearwardly of the air transportation device is a sheet which inclines downwardly toward the curved feeding surface of the feeder housing with the pick-up, air transportation device and guide sheet all pivotally mounted relative to the feeder housing. A feed roller includes a plurality of fingers which rotate with the roller about an eccentric axis so that the fingers project outwardly at the front of the roller to a length extending just to the rear of the pick-up fingers and then retract at the rear of the roller.

  • Patent number: 4038809
Abstract: Crop gathering table for a grain combine has belts positioned to convey crop rearwards between a cutterbar and an auger. Each belt is caused to run straight by adjustable guide rollers located between the upper and lower runs of the belt and engaging the edge portions of the inner surface of the belt in its lower run and deflecting said edge portions downwards. The guide rollers are angularly adjustable by a lever mechanism actuable from the front of the table while the belts are being driven.
