By Adjusting Ground Wheel Or Skid Relative To Carrier Patents (Class 56/17.2)
  • Patent number: 7624560
Abstract: A depth of cut/height adjuster for a grass treatment insert mounted to rotate in a frame supported on front and rear rollers. The adjuster permits an operator to vary the height of a frame relative to the front roller and thereby adjust the depth of cut of the grass treatment insert. The depth/height adjuster includes a frame mount block for attachment to the frame. The frame mounting block has a throughbore in which is threaded a shaft. A roller mounting block for attachment to the front roller is rotatably mounted on a lower end of the shaft. A vertical gauge attached to the roller mounting block when aligned with a marker on the frame mounting block (such as the bottom edge) indicates the relative distance between the roller mounting block and frame mounting block which is correlated with a height setting of the grass treatment insert.

Abstract: A fully-adjustable lightweight trimmer attachment assembly (10) broadly comprises a wheel (14), a rod (16) extending from the wheel (14), and a mounting mechanism (18) for rotationally mounting the rod (16) to a trimmer (12). The rod (16) preferably includes an axle section (16a) through the wheel (14), a trailing section (16b) perpendicular to the axle section (16a), a centering section (16c) parallel to the axle section (16a), and a vertical section (16d) aligned at ninety degrees to the centering section (16c) and at sixty degrees to the trailing section (16b). With the vertical section (16d) vertical, the trailing section (16b) forces the wheel (14) to follow the vertical section (16d), providing a castering effect. The mounting mechanism (18) includes a rod mount (30) rotationally secured to the vertical section (16d) and a shaft mount (32) operable to be secured to the trimmer (12) and rotate about the rod mount (30).

  • Patent number: 6732500
Abstract: A riser attachment for mower height adjustment includes a bracket attachable to a mower and a roller removably attachable to the brackets. Each bracket includes a cavity therein which receives an arm extending from a support structure which rotatably supports each end of the roller such as through an axle passing through a collar in an interface to which the arm is connected. The roller or other bearing surface extends below a mower support plane in which primary ground support structures of the mower are located. The roller or other bearing surface of the riser attachment thus elevates a cutting reel of the mower slightly to provide a second cutting height for the mower. This second cutting height can be adjusted through height adjusters which control a distance that the arms extend into the cavities of the brackets. Levers are rotatable to secure or release the arms within the cavities.
