  • Patent number: 9854740
Abstract: A reel mower has a traction frame which carries one or more reel cutting units. Each cutting unit has a grass basket associated therewith for receiving and collecting grass clippings generated by operation of the cutting unit. Each grass basket has a forward portion of a bottom wall thereof formed by a piece of flexible material. An actuator is operatively engaged with the flexible material piece for lifting a front end of the flexible material piece upwardly relative to a rear end of the flexible material piece in response to changes in orientation between the cutting unit and the grass basket during operation of the mower to incline the flexible material piece and thereby promote the flow of grass clippings down the so inclined flexible material piece to more fully fill the grass basket.

  • Patent number: 9663912
Abstract: A litter separating apparatus includes a frame, a churn-up mechanism provided at a front portion of the frame, and a mesh member provided at a rear portion of the frame. During operation, when the separating apparatus is towed on the surface of sand ground, the churn-up mechanism churns up litter along with sand, and throws thus churned up litter into said mesh member which catches the litter. The mesh member includes an encircling portion including a rear wall and side walls, and having an opening formed therein. The mesh member is attached pivotally to one of longitudinal members of the frame. An opening-closing plate is pivotally arranged around an open-side edge of one of the side walls on the longitudinal member to which the mesh member is pivotally attached. Such litter separating apparatus prevents litter from dropping out from the mesh member during collection of the litter.

  • Patent number: 7124563
Abstract: A grass collecting system having a grass collecting duct for transmitting grass clippings reaped by a mower to a swingable grass catcher. The grass collecting duct includes top and side plates for guiding grass clippings from the mower unit to the grass catcher. An outlet portion is defined by an end of a space surrounded by the top and side plates. The grass collection system also having a grass clippings discharge path for transmitting grass clippings received from the mower, from the outlet portion into the grass catcher, and a bottom plate unit disposed in the outlet portion that is swingable about a pivot shaft from a guide position to an upstanding position. The bottom plate unit has a shortening mechanism for shortening a distance between a forward end of the bottom plate unit projecting into the grass collecting duct and the pivot shaft.

  • Patent number: 7121071
Abstract: A reel type mower having a mobile structure and a ground engaging traction member rotatably coupled to the mobile structure. The ground engaging traction member imparts traction movement to the mobile structure for movement on the ground at a ground speed. A power device is supported on the mobile structure and outputs a driving force to the ground engaging traction member. A bed knife is supported by the mobile structure having a cutting edge that cooperates with a grass cutting reel rotatably supported on the mobile structure. A collection apparatus is engagable with the mobile structure or removable from the mobile structure for collecting the grass clippings. A guard device is pivotally coupled to the mobile structure and is positionable in a closed position concealing the grass cutting reel and an opened position revealing the grass cutting reel.
