  • Patent number: 8844252
Abstract: A bi-directional drive system for turf grooming and brushing operations includes a first gear rotatably connected to a reel deck assembly. A reel shaft gear is connected to a reel shaft and rotated in a first axial rotation direction. Second and third gears are rotatably connected to the reel deck assembly. A double sided cogged belt is engaged to the reel shaft gear. An attachment member defining a turf component is rotated in the first axial rotational direction by rotation of the reel shaft gear connected to the first gear by the double sided cogged belt without rotation of the second and third gears. The turf component as a turf groomer is rotated in a second axial rotational direction opposite to the first axial rotational direction by rotation of the reel shaft gear connected to the first, second and third gears by the double sided cogged belt.

  • Patent number: 7530214
Abstract: An auxiliary drive mounted to a reel mower cutting unit includes an auxiliary drive input shaft engageable to a cutting reel shaft of the reel mower cutting unit. The auxiliary drive transmits rotational power to an attachment rotatably mounted to the reel mower cutting unit. The auxiliary drive has a housing with a flange positionable on a boss concentric with the cutting reel shaft. A plurality of holes extend through the flange, and a circumferential groove extends at least partially around the boss. A retaining clip is inserted through the holes in the flange and into the circumferential groove to axially retain the auxiliary drive housing to the boss while allowing the auxiliary drive housing to pivot on the cutting reel shaft.

  • Patent number: 6848244
Abstract: This is a large rotatable cutter head primarily useful in masticating vegetation ranging from grasses to large trees. The inventive cutter head is typically mounted on an articulating arm on a tractor or tread-based vehicle. Depending upon the size of the arm and its maneuverability, the cutter head may be used to cut and grind vegetation variously from the ground surface to many feet off the ground. The rotatable cutter head assembly includes a number of rotating cutters mounted inside the periphery of the assembled drum and that spin freely outside the diameter of that drum and, upon contact with vegetation, rotate into the drum assembly. The invention includes combinations of the cutter head with the support vehicle or articulating arm and methods of using the cutter head.
