With Tension Adjustment Patents (Class 56/292)
  • Patent number: 11116131
Abstract: Vegetation cutting apparatuses may include a wheeled apparatus frame. A cutting assembly may be carried by the wheeled apparatus frame. The cutting assembly may include an elongated chain support member having a chain support member edge. An elongated debris removal slot may extend into the chain support member from the chain support member edge. A cutting chain may be configured to traverse the chain support member edge of the chain support member. An engine may drivingly engage the cutting chain.

  • Patent number: 5732539
Abstract: A cutting and mowing apparatus comprising a continuous sickle chain assembly (8) utilizing cutting knives (10). The sickle chain assembly is confined within channel (29) formed by stationary guards (28) by means of alternating chain members (12), knives (10), and links (14). The sickle chain assembly is motivated by drive assemblies (31), which possess an integral protective slip clutch assembly (45). The sickle chain assemblies tightness is maintained using spring loaded tensioner assemblies (89). On the rearward return path, the sickle chain assembly slides in the return channel (144). The drive assemblies (31) are powered from the hydraulic system of the parent machine, such as a combine, tractor, or mower/conditioner. This unit, while being designed to retrofit existing cutting machines, can also be used for new production models.

  • Patent number: 5644904
Abstract: A sickle apparatus employing an endless cutter mechanism is provided wherein its modular construction allows the size of the apparatus to be readily tailored to variously sized equipment. Traveling blades are attached to the hollow pin drive chain by fasteners extending through the hollow pins to facilitate repair with a minimum of downtime. The use of liner material prevents a pivoting or twisting of the chain to stabilize the traveling blades while minimizing wear and tear. A positive attack of the traveling blade relative the fixed blade provides for a positive cutting action.

  • Patent number: 4267686
Abstract: A lawn mower comprising a plurality of flexible filament cutter elements carried on a continuous or endless driven belt. The lawn mower includes a plate-like frame having an arcuate front end formed as a portion of a perfect circle, on the underside of which is mounted a plurality of driven pulleys. A drive motor having a drive pulley is mounted on the frame, in a position to the rear of the driven pulleys. A drive belt is operatively mounted around the driven pulleys and around the drive pulley on the motor for driving the driven pulleys. The endless belt which carries the flexible filament cutter elements is mounted around the driven pulleys, whereby when the driven pulleys are rotated by the drive belt, the belt carrying the flexible cutter filaments is moved around the arcuate front end of the mower frame, and the filament cutter elements are moved outwardly by centrifugal force, for cutting engagement with grass and other vegetation, with a flail type cutting action.
