Gang Patents (Class 56/6)
  • Patent number: 7793487
Abstract: A gang-type lawn mower system comprises a main frame or frame structure and a plurality of mower decks secured to the main frame. Mounted on the main frame is a power source such as an internal combustion engine. A drive train is interconnected between the power source and each of the mower decks. Thus, each mower deck is driven by the single power source. Further, the frame structure includes a tongue that is adapted to be connected to a tractor. Therefore, in cutting grass, the frame structure is pulled over the ground and each of the mower decks, driven by the power source, cuts grass or other vegetation that passes under the mower decks. Additionally, each mower deck is pivotally connected to the frame structure about at least one pivot axis.

A mower input shaft is disposed on the top board for transmitting power to the rotary blades juxtaposed inside the mower deck to be rotatable about three vertical axes arranged sideways. The mower input shaft extends longitudinally of the body frame and has a rear connecting end. A PTO shaft is provided in a rear transmission mechanism that drives the rear wheels. The PTO shaft extends longitudinally of the body frame and has a forward connecting end.

Abstract: A mower unit attachable to a vehicle body includes a mower deck. The mower deck defines a grass discharge opening at an opposite side of one side wall, and has a plurality of rotary blades juxtaposed inside the mower deck to be rotatable about vertical axes. All of the rotary blades are rotatable in the same direction so that a front half, with respect to a traveling direction, of a track of rotation of each rotary blade points toward the side having the grass discharge opening. A rear baffle depends from a top board of the mower deck for enclosing the rotary blades in combination with a front wall, and surrounds, in form of a concentric part circle, a rear portion of the track of rotation of each rotary blade. A front baffle and a mulching baffle are provided to be selectively attached to the mower deck to be located forwardly of the tracks of rotation of the rotary blades.

Abstract: An agricultural machine fitted with a chopping device. The chopping device includes a guard, at least three chopping members disposed above the guard and that are linked thereto to pivot around a shaft directed upwards, and transmission elements that rotate the chopping members around the respective shafts. Among the chopping members at least two adjacent chopping members rotate in opposite directions converging towards the front. The distance separating the rotary shafts of two adjacent chopping members rotating in opposite directions converging towards the front is greater than at least a distance separating the rotary shafts of two adjacent chopping members having directions of rotation that do not converge towards the front. The arrangement of the chopping members in this manner can be used advantageously to improve the removal of the chopped product towards the rear of the chopping device.

The apparatus includes the draw bar hitch at the rear spaced across from the hitch arm for attachment to the cutter so that the cutter is offset to one side of the tractor. Two gear boxes and a drive shaft provide connection from the PTO of the tractor to the drive input of the cutter. The offset hitch apparatus allows the cutter to run in a ditch while the tractor remains on level ground.

Abstract: A lawn mower comprises an articulating mowing deck and a caster wheel assembly for supporting and facilitating travel of the mowing deck. The articulating mowing deck includes an inboard deck portion and an outboard deck wing portion. The inboard deck portion and outboard deck wing portion each have at least one cutting blade. The outboard deck wing portion is pivotally attached to the inboard deck portion in a manner so that the outboard deck wing portion is pivotable about a horizontally disposed deck wing pivot axis. The axis extends generally from a forward portion of the articulating mowing deck toward a rear portion of the articulating mowing deck. The outboard deck wing portion is pivotable about the axis between a cutting position and a transport position. When the outboard deck wing portion is in its cutting position, an outboard cutting blade rotates in a plane that is generally parallel to terrain over which the outboard deck wing portion travels.

  • Patent number: RE40604
Abstract: A mower conditioner includes a rotary style cutter bed and a pair of laterally extending crop conditioning rolls spaced rearwardly from the cutter bed. Crop flow is improved in the machine by a laterally extending conveying roller located between the cutter bed and the nip defined by the conditioning rolls. In particular, the conveying outer roller serves to lift cut crop up from the cutter bed and convey the crop rearwardly to the nip. This ensures that the cut crop moves in a steady stream from the cutter bed to the conditioning rolls, and thereby reduces the risk of cut crop being thrown forwardly by the cutters. A downwardly open area is preferably defined between the conveying roller and the cutter bed to provide a space through which dirt and debris can drop out of the machine. The conveying roller preferably has a rotational axis that is lower than the rotational axis of the lower conditioning roll and generally vertically aligned with the substantially planar cutting zone defined by the cutter bed.
