Abstract: A two-stage process for the preparation of organic isocyanates by reacting primary amines with phosgene in which: a) in a first stage, amine and phosgene are reacted in an adiabatically managed reaction, in which the temperature of reaction is restricted to values between 100 and 220° C. by actively adjusting the absolute pressure in the reactor to values between 8 and 50 bar by decompression, and the temperature is held at values between 100 and 220° C. until the stoichiometric conversion of phosgene has reached at least 80%; and then b) in a second stage, the reaction mixture from a) is decompressed to an absolute pressure of 1 to 15 bar and the reaction mixture is reacted further at temperatures between 90 and 240° C., optionally with the introduction of heat.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for preparing polyhydroxy-urethanes without using a compound having an isocyanate function, and from amino compounds and compounds carrying carbonate functions, in particular cyclic carbonate functions. The invention also relates to a method for preparing aqueous or hydro-organic formulations containing polyhydroxy-urethanes, and to the use of said polyhydroxy-urethanes and of said aqueous or hydro-organic formulations.
Abstract: The disclosure relates to biocompatible components useful for forming compositions for use as medical/surgical synthetic adhesives and sealants. Biocompatible components of the present disclosure may include a polymeric polyol core, which may be treated with a nitroaryl compound to form a nitro ester. The resulting nitro ester groups may be reduced to form amino groups which, in turn, may be treated to form isocyanate groups. The resulting isocyanate may then be reacted with a second component to form adhesive and/or sealant compositions.

Abstract: There are provided a novel ethylenically unsaturated group-containing isocyanate compound, a process for producing the same, and a reactive monomer produced from the isocyanate compound, a reactive polymer and its use. The ethylenically unsaturated group-containing isocyanate compound according to the present invention is represented by formula (I).
Abstract: The invention provides a novel polyisocyanate compound which is useful as a starting material for an optical material having a high refractive index, a low dispersion and excellent optical characteristics, and a process for producing this compound at good efficiency. The invention also provides an optical material having a high refractive index, a low dispersion, an excellent transparency without optical distortion and having good heat resistance.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved process for the production of light colored polymethylene polyphenyl polyisocyanates. This process comprises adding a compound that contains an epoxide group to the process at any point prior to quench cooling the formed polyisocyanates.
Abstract: The invention relates to a novel process for the preparation of acyl isocyanates which consists in reacting oxalyl chloride with an N-trialkylsilylcarboxamide or an N,N-bis(trialkylsilyl)carboxamide.The process makes it possible to obtain acyl isocyanates in good yield, in particular acyl isocyanates derived from aliphatic amides, and under simplified reaction conditions.
