Thiocarboxylic Acid Anhydrides (i.e., Compounds Having The -c(=x)-x C(=x)- Group, Wherein The X's May Be The Same Or Diverse Chalcogens And At Least One X Is Sulfur) Patents (Class 562/886)
Abstract: A 2-methoxyphenol derivative and an ink composition containing the 2-methoxyphenol derivative, an aqueous medium, and a colorant enhance light resistance by absorbing ultraviolet (UV) light, provide wettability and stabilize a colorant. The ink composition prepared using the 2-methoxyphenol derivative also has improved light resistance, wettability and stabilizes a colorant and does not require an additional light-resistant agent.
Abstract: The present invention includes 16-HETE analogs which are agonists and antagonists of 16-HETE. The compositions may be formulated in pharmaceutically acceptable formulations. The invention also includes methods and products for inhibiting neutrophil adhesion and neutrophil aggregation using the 16-HETE agonists. One method of the invention involves the administration of a 16-HETE agonist in combination with a thrombolytic agent to a patient suffering from thromboembolic stroke.

Abstract: Disclosed is a process for the preparation of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid anhydride by the steps of (1) forming a mixed anhydride comprising a trifluoromethanesulfonyl acyl residue and a carboxyl residue by contacting trifluoromethanesulfonic acid or a derivative thereof with a carboxyl compound selected from ketene, dialkyl ketenes, carboxylic acids, and derivatives of carboxylic acids and (2) subjecting the mixed anhydride to reactive distillation wherein the mixed anhydride undergoes disproportionation to produce triflic anhydride and a higher boiling carboxylic acid anhydride.
Abstract: Oligomeric thiocarbonates such as hexathiodicarbonate salts and thioesters are used as pesticides and preservatives. Certain oligomeric thiocarbonate salts, notably quaternary ammonium hexathiodicarbonates, are prepared. The compounds are stabilized with added base and/or sulfide.

Abstract: A process for the production of diaryl ethers which comprises heating, to a temperature of 80.degree. C. to 220.degree. C., a compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein X and Y are selected from the group consisting of H, CN, CO.sub.2 H, CHO, NO.sub.2, and CF.sub.3, provided that both X and Y may not simultaneously be H, in a solvent, in the presence of an inorganic base selected from the group consisting of the alkali metal carbonates, bicarbonates, and hydroxides, and in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group consisting of benzoic acid, substituted benzoic acids, C2-C4 aliphatic carboxylic acids, and alkali metal salts of said acids.
