  • Publication number: 20120238717
Abstract: A composition is provided that contains an intermediate for a water-soluble monomer, wherein this intermediate is suitable for producing a water-soluble polyalkylene glycol-type monomer that has a polymerizable terminal double bond, and suitable for the production of water-soluble polymer, and moreover allows the high-yield production of water-soluble polymer. A process of producing this composition and a water-soluble monomer-containing composition obtained therefrom are also provided. A water-soluble monomer is also provided that can be used as a starting material for a water-soluble polymer that even at high hardnesses exhibits an excellent capacity to capture metal ions such as the calcium ion and magnesium ion, an excellent anti-gelation performance, an excellent anti-soil redeposition performance, a better anti-dye transfer performance than in the past, and also an excellent compatibility with surfactants.

Abstract: This invention relates to novel compounds derived from the reaction of diamines or polyamines with alkylene oxides. The invention also relates to novel compounds derived from the reaction of amine terminated polyethers with epoxide functional compounds. The novel compounds of the invention are particularly useful as wetting and foam control agents. The disclosed compounds exhibit exceptional antifoaming and defoaming activity while simultaneously reducing the dynamic surface tension when incorporated at low levels in water-based systems.

  • Patent number: 8158827
Abstract: Disclosed are cationic lipid compounds and compositions of lipid aggregates for delivery of macromolecules and other compounds into cells. The compounds can be used alone or in combination with other compounds to prepare liposomes and other lipid aggregates suitable for transfection or delivery of compounds to target cells, either in vitro or in vivo. The compounds are preferably polycationic and preferably form highly stable complexes with various anionic macromolecules, particularly polyanions such as nucleic acids. These compounds have the property, when dispersed in water, of forming lipid aggregates which associate strongly, via their cationic portion, with polyanions. Also disclosed are intermediates for preparing the compound and compositions of the invention and methods of using the compounds to introduce other compounds into cells.
