  • Patent number: 11795591
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing a ribbon comprising bamboo fibers. The method comprises positioning the fibers on a conveyor and conveying the fibers in a transport direction, interconnecting the fibers by covering the fibers with thread and/or particles of a sticky material with at least one web forming device which is positioned above and/or below the conveyor and which ejects thread and/or particles. The formed thread and/or particles attaches to the fibers and forms a web which interconnects the fibers in order to form the ribbon and/or stitching the fibres together with at least one stitching device which is configured to stitch the individual fibers together in order to form the ribbon.

  • Patent number: 6260343
Abstract: Strands and wire ropes composed of materials such as high carbon steels and stainless steels can be provided in a compacted, mechanically stress relieved and thermally stress relieved condition. The wires are compacted during stranding to form the individual strands of the wire ropes. The wires can be thermally stress relieved prior to stranding to remove tensile residual stresses. Compaction produces a compressive residual stress state in the strands which increases fatigue resistance. The strands can be thermally stress relieved subsequent to closing. The wires and strands can be heated using a process such as induction heating. The wire ropes can be torque balanced or rotation resistant. The wire ropes have high strength, a high strength-to-weight ratio and enhanced fatigue life. Stainless steel wire ropes also provide corrosion resistance.

  • Patent number: 4253298
Abstract: A high speed rigid strander is described that has a rotatably mounted cage which includes a plurality of bobbin support members which are parallel to and angularly spaced about the axis of rotation of the cage. Each support member includes a locking mechanism for simultaneously locking or releasing an entire row of bobbins, each of which is spaced from the axis of rotation and has its longitudinal axis oriented generally radially or at an angle normal to the strander axis. Wire guides associated with each bobbin fly the wires off the bobbins under the action of external pulling forces without requiring the bobbins to rotate. Fly-off is generally radially inwardly against the action of centrifugal forces and the wires are guided towards the strander axis and then parallel thereto so that the wires from all of the bobbins can be brought to an end of the rotating cage and wound about a core wire.

  • Patent number: 4224787
Abstract: Apparatus for winding tape around an elongate core comprises a frame structure which supports one or more reels of tape. The frame structure carries a bobbin which is rotatable with the frame structure about the core. Tape passes from the reel to the bobbin and extends between a pair of contacts before passing through a slit to the core. The contacts are normally open but if the tape touches one of these that contact closes and the speed of the motor, which drives the frame structure is adjusted to maintain the tape between the contacts. This arrangement ensures a substantially constant pitch of the tape around the core.

Abstract: An apparatus for applying in continuous manner about a flexible hose a plurality of reinforcing wraps. The apparatus comprises generally a first yarn treating head including a first bobbin table and a second yarn treating head including a second bobbin table. The first and second bobbin tables rotate in opposite directions. Each bobbin table has mounted thereon a plurality of yarn carrying bobbins on each side of the table, for example, four bobbins per side. The apparatus can then accommodate a total of 16 bobbins, eight of which are located at each head, to wind reinforcing wraps of any desired number of yarns from two to 16 by utilizing all or only some of the bobbins.

  • Patent number: 4098063
Abstract: A high speed rigid-type strander includes a main shaft or body mounted for rotation about its longitudinal axis with the core wire advanced through the strander substantially along its axis of rotation. Bobbin supporting members are fixedly mounted externally on the shaft or body for rotation therewith and for mounting the bobbins in positions displaced from the axis of rotation. The bobbins are mounted with their longitudinal axes oriented at substantial angles from the axis of rotation of the shaft or body, and preferably at an angle substantially normal thereto. The bobbins can be mounted to either fly-off the wire in a generally radially outward direction or in a generally radially inward direction with the bobbins stationary about their longitudinal axes. A strander of the above general type is also described which can be used in either a fly-off mode of operation or in a traditional pay-off mode wherein the bobbins rotate about their own axes.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a machine and apparatus for wrapping a plurality of different tapes around an elongated structure such as an electrical conductor. The multiple tapes to be wrapped are supplied by a package having a plurality of different tapes wound thereon in an universal or traverse wound arrangement. The apparatus includes at least one flyer or winding head which carries at least one supply package having a plurality of different tapes. The path of travel of the conductor extends along the axis of rotation of the winding head which in turn revolves the supply package about the conductor. The winding head further includes guides for supporting and directing the different tapes as they are simultaneously wrapped about the conductor.
