  • Patent number: 7138167
Abstract: A preform for a fiber-reinforced composite material including a bent portion along a curved line for bending, a flange portion corresponding to an outer circumferential portion, and a semi-cylindrical portion formed by bending an inner circumferential portion along the curved line for bending located in a flat plane or a curved plane region. The preform is formed from a precursor having a predetermined extension. The outer circumferential portion corresponds to a first region where a first plurality of reinforced fibers is partially disposed in parallel along the curved line for bending. The inner circumferential portion corresponds to a second region constituted solely of a second plurality of reinforced fibers disposed throughout the entire area, so as to intersect the first plurality of reinforced fibers at a predetermined angle in the first region.

  • Patent number: 6418705
Abstract: To improve the breaking of a roving between a pressing finger bed and a fully wound bobbin preliminary to a bobbin change, the roving is initially wound around the tube above the upper cone and an unwound roving reserve is formed from at least a half turn on the upper winding cone and the body. A false twist is generated to provide a weakened region so that the roving has a first segment extending from the upper edge of the upper winding cone to the lower edge thereof, a second segment extending to the weakened zone and a third segment extending from the weakened zone to the pressing finger bed. The false twist increases the number of twists per unit length in the first segment and decreases the number of twists per unit length in the second and third segments. The pressing finger is moved along the bobbin periphery and the roving is broken at the weak spot by further movement of the pressing finger relative to the bobbin.

Abstract: A full bobbin before removal from a roving machine has a roving broken between the bobbin body and the pressing finger bed of the flyer by initially winding the roving around the tube above the upper cone and then generating a roving reserve from at least half a turn on the upper winding cone and the body. The roving reserve between the fastening turns and the pressing finger bed is then partly unwound to form a weak spot along the roving reserve and the pressing finger bed is then moved a certain amount along the bobbin periphery and the roving is broken at the weak spot by a further movement of the pressing finger bed.

  • Patent number: 6082658
Abstract: The roving slubbing at the conclusion of winding of a roving bobbin in a flyer type machine is passed in a descending spiral around the cylindrical body bobbin and then onto the lower winding cone, after it is looped in an overwinding onto the winding tube below the lower winding cone. The winding then passes in a spiral upwardly and is formed into a short spiral segment which is drawn out by a traction on the roving so that the latter will break along the cylindrical body. The bobbin is stable and can easily be handled and transported directly and there is a reduced possibility for the slubbing to come loose, although it remains available to be pulled downwardly at the ring-spinning machine.

Abstract: A spinning apparatus winds a strand onto a yarn package by relatively rotating a flyer and the yarn package about an upright axis so as to wind the strand in a succession of turns around the package by a flyer finger movable axially relative to the package. Each successive layer of turns is shorter than the preceding one so that the finished package has an axially upwardly tapered upper end. After substantially completely forming the package the rotation is generally stopped to leave the flyer in a position with the finger below the upper end of the last layer of turns formed on the package. Then the package and finger are relatively axially moved until the finger is generally at the upper end of the first layer of turns formed on the package. The flyer and package are then relatively rotated forward, that is in the same direction as when the package was being formed, through at least one half revolution about the axis so as to form a loop of the strand around the upper package end.

Abstract: The spinning device comprises a vertically displaceable spindle bearing plate (2) carrying a rotatable spindle (1), and a cap-shaped thread guide member (6) rotatable about the spindle axis. The bobbin changer has a supporting element (11) and a bobbin holder element (10) which are movable transversely to the spindle axis. An extension (9) is releasably mounted on the top end of the spindle (1) and/or of a bobbin tube (8) placed on the spindle. Once the bobbin tube (8) has been fully wound with yarn, a short yarn section is wound onto this extension (9), and then the spinning device is shut off. The spindle bearing plate (2) is lowered, and the supporting element (11) is moved toward the spindle axis in order to seize the extension (9). The spindle bearing plate (2) is lowered further, and the bobbin holder element (10) is moved toward the spindle axis, seizes the fully wound bobbin tube (8), and transfers the latter to a conveying means (14, 15).

  • Patent number: 4827709
Abstract: In the process and apparatus for loading a ring spinning machine with roving-supply bobbins at least two bobbins rows extending longitudinally on each side of the spinning machine supply roving to the work stations and a auxiliary bobbin row which can travel in with full bobbons and out with empty bobbins are provided. According to our invention an exchange process is provided comprising replacing the roving of the bobbins in one of the bobbins rows supplying the roving which is being consumed by the roving of the auxiliary bobbin row which has been brought in with full bobbins. Thus the auxiliary bobbin row becomes one of the bobbin rows dispensing the roving while the bobbin row being replaced now becomes the auxiliary bobbin row with empty bobbins and is taken away. A new auxiliary bobbin row with full bobbins is then brought in. The exchange process is repeated for each of the bobbin rows as the roving is exhausted. A simple space saving apparatus for performing this process is described.

Abstract: An apparatus for preventing an unwinding of a roving end from a full package roving bobbin during the transportation thereof. This apparatus is constructed in combination with the transportation mechanism formed in the known doffing mechanism or known overhead roving bobbin transportation system, in a condition such that a part of the constitutional mechanical elements of such known transportation mechanisms are utilized as a part of the constitutional mechanical elements of the apparatus according to the present invention. In the apparatus of the present invention, a pressing member is utilized for applying pressure against the peripheral face of the winding portion of each roving bobbin while this bobbin is rotating, and therefore the free end of the roving is firmly attached to the above-mentioned peripheral face of the roving bobbin. Consequently, any possible problems due to an unexpected unwinding of the roving can be effectively prevented.

  • Patent number: 4729216
Abstract: A service device in a ring spinning machine is moved after a yarn break to the appropriate spinning position to separate the broken yarn end from the winding by generating an air blast that acts on the yarn end. If the winding build-up is in a stage in which the initial winding cone has not yet been completed, the air blast is set at a high value so that a relatively strong separating force acts on the broken yarn end. If, on the other hand, the build-up of the winding cone has been completed, the separating force acting on the yarn end is less. The stage of the winding build-up is determined with the aid of a switch, which is connected to a stop member that contacts and rests on the ring rail of the spinning position. The setting of the two air blasts is performed by a switchable trottle.

  • Patent number: 4651515
Abstract: A process for replacing spent roving packages with new roving packages, with automatic splicing and reattachment of the rovings, on machines to spin carded wool is disclosed. The new roving package is removed from a conveyor and brought to a waiting position, where the end of the new roving is manually placed in a gripper. When the old roving package is almost exhausted, the spindle of the spinning machine is stopped and the roving is sheared. The end of the roving still attached to the spinning machine is retained with an aspirator. The new roving package is then brought to the working position, causing the automatic discharge of the spent roving package, and the gripper brings the new roving to the aspiration site causing the intermingling of the fibers of the two rovings. The spindles are restarted and the spliced segments of the roving receives a false twist and subsequent real twists.
