  • Publication number: 20100071799
Abstract: Yarn loops are unwound from a stationary weft-winding drum during a weft insertion. A weft-braking device locks the yarn unwinding from the drum at the end of the insertion, and comprises at least one braking member which is arranged by side of the drum near its delivery end and is movable under control of an actuator between a resting position in which it is spaced from the outer surface of the drum and does not interfere with the unwinding yarn, and an operative position in which it engages the outer surface of the drum and cooperates with it to brake the yarn.

  • Patent number: 6666012
Abstract: During the pneumatic holding of a yarn spun from fibers, the intensity of the air stream holding the yarn is changed to adapt to the prevailing working conditions. Such a change in intensity of this air stream can take place here in adaptation to different work phases and/or to the character of the held yarn. In order to reduce the intensity of the air stream, a secondary air stream may be fed to it at a point which is not reached by the yarn held by the air stream, or the cross-section of a pneumatic device conveying the air stream is changed. The pneumatic device is associated with an air control device which influences the intensity of the air stream and is connected to a control device which can be adjusted or programmed to take various working conditions into account. By means of the air control device an opening can be controlled through which the line can be connected to the atmosphere surrounding it.

  • Patent number: 6408608
Abstract: A thread guiding wheel for use in textile machinery has a circumferential slot (8) adapted to receive a given yarn; the circumferential slot is generally V-shaped in section, having axially opposed walls (6, 7) which, in a radially inwards direction, converge to a base at which the walls intersect, the base of the V being sufficiently sharp to grip, between the axially opposed walls, a part of said yarn extending about at least a part of the circumference of the wheel.

  • Patent number: 6374588
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a hairiness controlling device that can start, simultaneously with the start of spun yarn running, stabilizing a spun yarn run through disks. According to the present invention, a rotation speed of each disk 6 is varied depending on a running speed of a spun yarn Y run as a drive drum D rotates, thereby setting the tension of the spun yarn Y at an appropriate value when the spun yarn starts to run.

  • Publication number: 20010037640
Abstract: An apparatus for temporarily retaining a thread segment of a twist yarn having a pre-existing twist in a manner which substantially preserves the pre-existing twist along a predetermined length of the thread segment in preparation for a selected thread or yarn joining operation is provided. The apparatus includes a stationary clamp surface member and a movable clamp surface member. The movable clamp surface member is movable relative to the stationary clamp surface member to form therewith a clamping extent in which the thread segment is clamped between the movable clamp surface member and the stationary clamp surface member. The clamping extent is dimensioned in correspondence with the length of the thread segment and may have, for example, a length corresponding to one-half the length of the predetermined length of the thread segment or about 35 to about 40 mm.

  • Patent number: 5794426
Abstract: A lever (30) is pivotably mounted about ax axis Z on a carrier journal (24) which is pivotable about an axis X and with which electromagnets (46, 48) cooperate. The lever carries a thread-receiving member (20) and is under the effect of a tension spring (42). When the thread is intercepted by the thread-receiving member during the forward rotation of the cop, there follows a deflection of the thread-receiving member, which takes place with the tension spring being tensioned at the same time and which is caused by the thread, on a path approximate to the movement of the traveller on the ring. The tensioned tension spring pivots the thread-receiving member during the paying-out of thread which occurs as a result of the subsequent reverse rotation of the cop. As a result of the intermediate blocking about one of the axes, the thread-receiving member moves on a path lying approximately in a tangential plane relative to the ring.

  • Patent number: 5636411
Abstract: Disclosed is a process and a device for automatic introduction of a fiber sliver into a textile machine equipped with a feed mechanism. The end of the fiber sliver is brought into a defined receiving position in which it is introduced into the feed mechanism. A predetermined length of the end of the fiber sliver is seized. The sliver is then shortened to a second predetermined length and is then introduced into the feed mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5193332
Abstract: A spinning or twisting device in which a yarn is to be back-fed into the bore of a pipe-shaped element subjected to negative pressure in order to repair a yarn break. This pipe-shaped element is made in form of a yarn draw-off pipe of an open-end spinning device or as part of a pneumatic twisting device.A presenting device is moved over and beyond the pipe-shaped element into a yarn inserting position. The end of the pipe-shaped element towards the moving path of the presenting device is provided with a nozzle which is provided, in relation to the bore, on its side towards the yarn inserting position of the presenting device with a yarn support, and on its side away from the yarn inserting position with a yarn insertion groove, oriented in the direction of movement of the presenting device. The bottom of the yarn insertion groove is at a greater distance from the moving path of the presenting device than the yarn support.
