Spaced, Driven Flyer Members Patents (Class 57/58.63)
  • Patent number: 8001757
Abstract: The invention relates to a double-twist bunching machine for producing bunched strand material (14), in particular wires, with an inlet (17) for individual strands (12) which can be supplied to a first deflection point (18) which has a first deflection roller (19), wherein the first deflection roller (19) is arranged in a manner such that it can rotate about an axis of rotation (21) in order to form a first twist, with a hoop (24) which rotates about the axis of rotation (21) and connects the first deflection point (18) to a second deflection point (26), wherein the second deflection point (26) has at least one second deflection roller (32) which is rotatable about the axis of rotation (21) in order to form a second twist.

  • Patent number: 6865875
Abstract: Apparatus used in connection with a flyer bow. The bow has a longitudinal recess, at least one wear insert in the recess, at least one guide in the recess, and a stop to keep the wear inserts and guides in the recess. The recess has an inner transverse dimension that is larger than an outer transverse dimension. The wear inserts and guides have a engagement portions that fit within the recess and restrain them from significant radial movement. A stop, detachably affixed to the flyer bow, restrains them from longitudinal movement.

  • Patent number: 6378283
Abstract: A process and apparatus for manufacturing multiple conductor cable having improved transmission parameters. The apparatus includes a rotatable alignment die having a plurality of apertures. At least one strand of the multiple conductor cable is caused to traverse an aperture of the rotatable alignment die. A rotation motor causes the strand to rotate about its elongate axis, and a translation motor causes the strand, or the cable, to traverse along its elongate axis. The multiple conductors are brought into a predetermined mutual mechanical alignment that is calculated to produce a cable having at least one improved transmission parameter. The cable can additionally include a support member adapted to maintain the conductors in the mutual mechanical alignment. A binder is applied to the cable to maintain the conductors in the predetermined mutual alignment.

  • Patent number: 6295798
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for manufacturing a steel cord. A method according to the present invention comprises the steps of: combining a plurality of the steel filaments supplied from the bobbin by means of the guide rollers; applying a twist pattern to the combined filaments by rotating a pair of flyers arranged between a pair of turn rollers in the counterclockwise direction, and advancing them; applying a further twist pattern to the advanced cord by rotating another pair of flyers arranged between another pair of turn rollers in the reverse direction; stabilizing the cord by means of the overtwist; and winding the resulted cord. The method and apparatus for manufacturing the steel cord have effects that productivity can be improved up to two times or six times even with the same revolution, as compared with the manufacturing apparatus of the prior art.

  • Patent number: 6289661
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention there is provided a wire guide holder for use with a flyer bow comprising a clamp having a base having a first surface for placement adjacent the flyer bow and a second surface in opposition to the first surface. A first gripping flange extends from the base and a second gripping flange extends from the base. The first and second gripping flanges secure the wire guide holder to the flyer bow without the need for fasteners through the flyer bow. A guide eye engaged to the base. The wire guide holder for use with a flyer bow further comprises a clamping system including a plurality of straps; at least one fastener for securing a first strap of the plurality of straps to a second strap of the plurality of straps about the flyer bow; and a guide eye engaged therebetween.
