  • Publication number: 20130287990
Abstract: An elastic composite twisted yarn includes a covered elastic yarn, having a core yarn formed of an elastic yarn and a sheath yarn formed of a thermoplastic multi filament, and first and second low stretch yarns formed of a thermoplastic multi-filament yarn or a spun yarn. The covered elastic yarn is drawn at a predetermined draw ratio to be inserted into the first low stretch yarn in a combined yarn state. The yarn in the combined yarn state and the second low stretch yarn are combined and twisted to obtain an elastic composite twisted yarn. A plurality of heteromorphic micro-loops formed of a constituent single fiber of the sheath yarn, which appears during the relaxation by a contractile force of the covered elastic yarn, protruding from the core yarn to a diameter direction, is usually incorporated into a constituent single fiber of the first low stretch yarn and thermally set.

  • Patent number: 7498518
Abstract: The present invention relates to cables made of twisted conductor pairs. More specifically, the present invention relates to twisted pair communication cables for high-speed data communications applications. A twisted pair including at least two conductors extends along a generally longitudinal axis, with an insulation surrounding each of the conductors. The conductors are twisted generally longitudinally along the axis. A cable includes at least two twisted pairs and a filler. At least two of the cables are positioned along generally parallel axes for at least a predefined distance. The cables are configured to efficiently and accurately propagate high-speed data signals by, among other functions, limiting at least a subset of the following: impedance deviations, signal attenuation, and alien crosstalk along the predefined distance.

  • Publication number: 20080134655
Abstract: Apparatus for manufacturing a helically-wound electric cable having a winder means for winding two groups, each group having two twisted-together conductor wires, in such a manner as to form a group helix. A means is provided for varying the pitch of the group helix, having two accumulators located respectively upstream and downstream from the winder means, each accumulator having a moving drum enabling a varying length of a central line to be retained. A control means controls the position of each moving drum, where the groups are wound together at a speed that varies between two limit speeds having the same sign and where the winding is in such a manner that the pitch of the group helix varies along the cable between two limit values having the same sign.

  • Patent number: 6405518
Abstract: An optical fiber pay-out system utilizes over-the-end pay-out from a storage spool (34) into a module (38) adjacent the pay-out end of the spool. The module has a freely rotatable capstan (47) affixed thereto over a portion of the surface of which are endless belt (63) is in contact. A nozzle member (42) directs the paid out fiber into the region of belt and surface contact. Height adjusting members (72) are provided for imparting a twist to the fiber in the region by directing the fiber to an off-center position relative to the centerline of contact of the belt and surface of the capstan.

  • Patent number: 6378283
Abstract: A process and apparatus for manufacturing multiple conductor cable having improved transmission parameters. The apparatus includes a rotatable alignment die having a plurality of apertures. At least one strand of the multiple conductor cable is caused to traverse an aperture of the rotatable alignment die. A rotation motor causes the strand to rotate about its elongate axis, and a translation motor causes the strand, or the cable, to traverse along its elongate axis. The multiple conductors are brought into a predetermined mutual mechanical alignment that is calculated to produce a cable having at least one improved transmission parameter. The cable can additionally include a support member adapted to maintain the conductors in the mutual mechanical alignment. A binder is applied to the cable to maintain the conductors in the predetermined mutual alignment.

  • Patent number: 6230478
Abstract: Apparatus and method for manufacturing helically wound insulated conductors with filament fillers includes first and second payoff stations for paying off a plurality of insulated conductors and elongate filaments of filler materials. These cable components are guided from the payoff stations to a closing die, and are arranged in positions suitable for twisting into a cable by a double twist machine to form a cable of twisted insulated components forming radially outwardly facing helical interstices each of which is substantially filled with another one of the filaments of filler material. Differential or incremental lengths of filler material are metered upstream of the double twist machine to compensate for the differences in the radial distances of the insulated conductors and filaments of filler material on the center or cable of the axis.
