Abstract: A device and method for braiding hair or other flexible filaments is disclosed herein. The device comprises a set of gears comprising sector gears and elliptical gears, the elliptical gears having a hollow center portion for receiving the hair or other flexible material. The device further comprises a controller, a motor, a power source, and a user interface. The user interface allows the user to select a variety of weaving patterns. The device and method of the present disclosure may be employed to weave four or more strands of material into a braid.

An individual-spindle-drive type multiple twister M comprising a large number of twisting units installed in a line, each of which rotates a spindle so as to twist yarn Y1 released from a supply package P, and each of the spindles having a spindle drive source 8, wherein a switching means 23 corresponding to the spindle drive source 8 for each spindle is provided at the same or approximately the same height relative to a machine body in order to drive and stop the spindle drive source for each spindle.
Abstract: In the case of a method for closed-loop controlling the revolutions of an open-end spinning rotor during automatic piecing, the spinning rotor is run up to its operating speed from a standstill by being coupled to a tangential drive belt, which runs at operating speed. The spinning rotor thereby passes through a suitable speed range for piecing, and is kept at this speed range for a predetermined time span by changes in the driving effect of the tangential drive belt. This occurs in that the revolutions of the spinning rotor are measured, and dependent on these readings, the revolutions are closed-loop controlled by device of reducing and increasing the driving effect, for example by device of intermittent activating of the rotor brake.

Abstract: A core unit and method and apparatus for making it in which conductor pairs or units having a single direction of twist and in which angles of twist lay change along lengths of the conductor pairs. In a preferred and practical construction, the angles of twist lay of all pairs change along their lengths on a continuous basis. This angle change is cyclical and with the cycles of the angles of the pairs being out-of-phase with one another. This achieves average twist lays of the units which are substantially equal to one another from conductor pair-to-pair. The structure is achieved in a tandem operation of twisting conductors into pairs and then forming them into the core unit, preferably by stranding.
Abstract: A spinning frame 10 is disclosed for processing a strand at a varying strand movement speed to produce a strand processed with uniform tension. The spinning frame includes a motor 21 and a planetary gear box 30 which operates as a differential having first and second speed input elements formed by the rotation of the gear box housing 31 and a variable speed shaft 36. Housing 31 rotates at a constant speed and shaft 36 at a variable speed determined by the speed of rotation of a motor 50 which is controlled by an input to a variable capacity pump 45. A computer 70 operates through a servo-valve 60 to vary the speed of cylinder 18 to produce a speed required to maintain uniform tension on the strand.
Abstract: A method of, and apparatus for, manufacturing a stranded product from materials wound on feed reels journalled in a rotating feed cage. To permit operation at a maximum safe speed based on centrifugal force of the mass of material on the feed reels, an energy beam such as light is arranged to sense the diameter of the various feed reels. Cage rotation is then increased as permitted according to the observed diameter of charge of material on the reel having the greatest charge.
Abstract: An assembly of motors designed to drive a ring rail, a bank of spindles and a plurality of draw or delivery rollers in a ring spinning or twisting machine is supplied with three-phase current of a frequency determined by the settings of digitally adjustable frequency selectors independently controlling respective solid state frequency-inverters assigned to the several motors or groups of motors. The selectors include frequency dividers in the output of a common and preferably also adjustable source of timing signals which may be a free-running oscillator or a pulse generator driven by one of the motors acting as a master.

Abstract: A device for controlling the bobbin drive of a flyer roving frame which has a bobbin, a flyer and drive roll thereon that are utilized for building a bobbin with yarn. A drive for the frame incorporating a differential gear and controls are provided for adjusting the driving speed of the flyer and drive roll stepwise to different rotational speed stages during the building of the bobbin. An additional speed adjusting device is provided for automatically varying the driving speed of the bobbin within each rotational speed stage. A switching device is provided for automatically switching the rotational speed stages.
Abstract: Percent take-up feed of a yarn, which is taken up onto a pirn by rotary surface contact with a take-up roller via delivery rollers, is time-functionally and continuously changed by a speed converter which is inserted into a rotation transmission mechanism between both rollers and whose speed conversion ratio is adjusted by a pilot shaft in accordance with a programme which is designed on the basis of the take-up feed characteristic curve in order to obtain a yarn of uniform stretch property, the characteristic curve being in practice approximated by a combination of three or fewer straight lines.
Abstract: A yarn package is frictionally engaged by a roller and driven at a peripheral speed so as to pay off a filament that is wound on a spindle positively connected to the output shaft of a fixed-speed motor. This output shaft is also connected through a steplessly variable transmission to a roller-drive shaft that rotates the payoff roller and therefore determines the linear velocity of the filament. A pair of detectors are provided for generating respective outputs corresponding to the rotation speeds of the motor output shaft and the roller drive shaft. These two outputs are fed to a divider where they are combined into an actual-value signal that is compared with a set point so as to form a difference signal. A regulator operated by this deviation signal acts on the adjustment element of the steplessly variable transmission to maintain a constant ratio between the angular velocity of the two shafts so that uniform twist is imparted to the filament.
