Patent number: 5867974Abstract: In the case of an opening device for an open-end spinning machine, the rotating opening roller is arranged in a housing with a prevailing vacuum and has one front side which is exposed to the free atmosphere. In the area of this front side the opening roller is sealed off against the housing by means of a labyrinth seal. The labyrinth seal starts in the area of a peripheral combing structure of the opening roller with a first sealing gap and ends with a second sealing gap in the free atmosphere. The sealing gaps are formed by cylindrical collar surfaces of the opening roller and corresponding hollow cylindrical countersurfaces of the housing. In addition, the collar surfaces are provided with fly repulsing notches, whose direction of effect is such that the fly is repulsed at the first sealing gap towards the combing structure and at the second sealing gap, repulsed towards the free atmosphere. The front side of the open roller exposed to the free atmosphere is not covered by a lid.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1997Date of Patent: February 9, 1999Assignee: Spindelfabrick Suessen, Schurr, Stahlecker & Grill GmbHInventor: Friedbert Schmid

Patent number: 5740666Abstract: The present invention provides a unique method and system for automatically controlling the motion of a rotary ring twisting and winding device, provided with a rotary ring member rotatably mounted on a holder by way of a bearing mechanism, which is utilized for textile machines having a so-called ring traveller twisting and winding mechanism. The present invention is characterized in that the rotational speeds of the rotary ring member and spindles are continuously detected, and the detected rotational speed of the rotary ring member is compared with the desired rotational speed of the rotary ring member which is calculated by multiplying a predetermined ratio by the detected rotational speed of the spindles, and if it is detected that the rotational speed of the rotary ring member is out of control, the rotational speed of the rotary ring member is electrically controlled to return to a condition of satisfying a predetermined allowable controlled condition.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 1996Date of Patent: April 21, 1998Inventors: Hiroshi Yamaguchi, Masashi Yamaguchi

Patent number: 5694757Abstract: A spinning machine has a third guide eye rail, a third balloon-confining ring rail and a traveller ring rail each of which may be operated by a flexible member from a windless drum and the latter can have an electric motor drive. According to the invention, instead of storing all of the points defining the time course of the movement of the rail, a selected number of points such as starting points for the mean path and amplitude, one or more envelopes, and the amplitude or double amplitude of the oscillation superimposed upon the mean path are determined and a corresponding time course is generated. From the time course at given times determined by the oscillation, the maxima and minima of the path is produced by the evaluation and control unit and used to reverse the motor which raises and lowers the respective rail.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1996Date of Patent: December 9, 1997Assignee: Zinser Textilmaschinen GmbHInventors: Jurgen Smekal, Mathias Scheufler

Patent number: 5619849Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing randomly variegated multiple strand yarn in twisting together two or more yarns at a plurality of yarn twisting stations. At each station a pneumatic twisting head is disposed in which randomly turbulent air currents are created in a chamber in the twisting head by compressed air flowing into the chamber from a manifold through bores in the twisting head, thereby randomly twisting together two or more yarns in the chamber. The yarns which have been twisted together are taken up over a plurality of traversing drums commonly mounted on a shaft which is driven by an alternating electric current motor controlled by a control device which operates to start and restart the motor on a predetermined cycle including a variation of the electrical input sufficient to result in randomly unpredictable inertia resistance of the traversing drums to rotational speed variation, thereby creating randomly unpredictable take-up of the yarns to produce non-uniform random twist in the yarns.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 1994Date of Patent: April 15, 1997Assignee: Caress Yarns, Inc.Inventor: William A. Patent number: 5259179Abstract: When a full bobbin signal from a counter CCM counting the number of rotations of the front roller (3) is output, the control element (28) outputs a signal directed to the control motor (M2) of a unit (29) for reciprocating a bobbin rail (10). As a result, the rotation of the control motor (M2) is combined with the rotation of a differential gear (14 ) connected to the main motor (M1), so that a reciprocating movement of the bobbin rail (10) after the full bobbin state is obtained which is faster than that obtained during a usual taking up operation of the roving, which causes the roving to be wound on the bobbin in a much coarser state than usual. A limit switch (LSP) detects a predetermined desired position of the bobbin rail (10), and the control element (28) outputs a signal directed to the unit (29), whereby the main motor (M1) and the control motor (M2) are stopped.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 1992Date of Patent: November 9, 1993Assignee: Howa Machinery, Ltd.Inventors: Shigeki Sekiya, Takashi Kogiso, Yoshio Kurachi

Patent number: 5115632Abstract: A method is described of operating a ring spinning machine in which the traversing motion of the ring rail is generated by means of a heart-shaped disc. For the execution of specific functions which depend on the angular position of the heart-shaped disc, the period of rotation of the heart-shaped disc is first determined. Thereafter, a predetermined angular starting position of this heart-shaped disc is detected and, on the basis of the predetermined period of rotation, the time is then computed in each case from the occurrence of the angular starting position up to the occurrence of at least one further predetermined angular position which is associated with a respective function. On the expiration of the time associated with a respective angular position, the related function is executed.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1990Date of Patent: May 26, 1992Assignee: Rieter Machine Works, Ltd.Inventor: Georg Ulmer

Patent number: 4467593Abstract: A method and an apparatus for automatically controlling the winding tension of the roving in a bobbin lead roving machine is disclosed. The mean bobbin winding diameter D.sub.B, bobbin r.p.m. N.sub.B and the flyer r.p.m. N.sub.F are measured automatically for one or more operating spindles, and a mathematical equation (N.sub.B /N.sub.F -1).times.D.sub.B =K representative of winding conditions for the roving is solved by automatic operation based upon the above measured values. When the value K thus obtained exceeds a preset control limit, the bobbin r.p.m. is decreased or increased automatically for correcting the value K towards its central setting for automatically correcting the winding tension of the roving.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1982Date of Patent: August 28, 1984Assignee: Seisakusho Kabushiki Kaisha Toyoda JidoshokkiInventor: Hidejiro Araki

Patent number: 4359858Abstract: A yarn-body core is supported by an upright spindle adjacent a vertically displaceable yarn guide through which a yarn to be wound passes to the core. The core and spindle are rotated and simultaneously the guide is displaced upwardly along the core to wind the yarn on the core until an instant when a yarn package having a predetermined size is formed on the core. Thereafter the guide is lowered to a level below the core while the spindle continues to rotate to wind several turns of the yarn on the spindle below the core. The rotation rate of the spindle and the core is decreased to a relatively low level prior to the instant when the yarn package is completely formed and thereafter this rotation rate is decreased to a standstill in accordance with a predetermined program starting at the instant the yarn package is fully formed and ending when several turns have been wounded on the spindle.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1980Date of Patent: November 23, 1982Assignee: Zinser Textilmaschinen GmbHInventor: Horst Wolf
