One Piece Patents (Class 59/90)
  • Patent number: 4020631
Abstract: A pintle chain link composed of a singular rigid U-shaped link member with opposite sides and an arcuate-shaped crosspiece adjoining the sides. The sides have their open ends offset from the closed ends so that the latter may fit between the former of adjacent links. The sections of the sides at the closed ends also are tapered from a relatively thick part adjoining the crosspiece to a relatively narrow part adjoining the remainder of the sides. The arcuate-shaped crosspiece is also made thicker than the sides by compressing excess material into the crosspiece.

  • Patent number: 4011715
Abstract: A chain link, a series of which can form a chain, the links having hook means at one end and a transverse bight at the other end whereby the hook means of one link can be detachably connected to the bight of an adjacent link. The hook means are formed by the ends of the legs of the link being turned back upon themselves so as to define a relatively narrow opening between the ends of the hooks and their respective legs. A transverse slot-like recess is formed in the legs adjacent the bight and at the end of the link opposite that on which the hook means are formed. The slot-like recess defines a narrower leg portion which is of a thickness less than the opening between the ends of the hooks in the legs so that in order to detach the chain links from one another, it is necessary to fold the links together so that the narrower leg portion can be slipped transversely through the relatively narrow opening of the hook means. This interlocking construction prevents inadvertent disengagement of the chain links.

  • Patent number: 4010604
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a jointed link band comprising a plurality of links, each link including a pair of arms, a first of said arms having a pair of projections projecting transversely to the longitudinal axis of said band. A second of said arms having recesses therein receiving said projections. A retaining member is provided for preventing the disassembly of adjoining links by motion of any two links transverse to the longitudinal axis of the band.

  • Patent number: 3996737
Abstract: A method of making a one-piece elevator link having a shank with an eye at each end involving the steps of casting from alloy steel a link blank having an oversize shank portion, forging or swaging the shank portion to reduce its diameter and correspondingly elongate it, and heat treating and drawing the forged or swaged blank to enhance its physical and mechanical properties. The eyes are cast in their final form. The oversize shank portion may be machined to reduce its diameter before it is forged or otherwise hot worked, whereby castings of but one size may be used in the production of elevator links of varying lengths.A cast elevator link blank to be hot worked into an elevator link of final form.

  • Patent number: 3983692
Abstract: A link chain for jewelry and other applications, the chain being composed of links having cross-sectionally enlarged longitudinal leg portions, thereby concealing the eyes of adjoining links and producing the appearance of a "full" chain. The cross-sectional profile of the leg portions may be such that the resultant chain has the overall shape of a cylinder, an octagonal prism, or a square prism, for example.

  • Patent number: 3973389
Abstract: The chain is formed of a series of links of general C-shape with the link diameter greater than the width of the gap at the ends of each to prevent disengagement therethrough, and a sound absorbing continuous length of sash cord of a diameter substantially equal to the gap width is combined with the chain length by insertion through the link gaps of such cord successively in alternating fashion along the length of the chain.
