Parallel Masters Driven By First Pulsator Patents (Class 60/580)
  • Patent number: 9016805
Abstract: A vehicle brake system includes a brake pedal unit (BPU) coupled to a vehicle brake pedal and including an input piston connected to operate a pedal simulator during a normal braking mode, and coupled to actuate a pair of output pistons during a manual push through mode. The output pistons are operable to generate brake actuating pressure at first and second outputs of the BPU. A hydraulic pressure source for supplying fluid at a controlled boost pressure is included. The system further includes a hydraulic control unit (HCU) adapted to be hydraulically connected to the BPU and the hydraulic pressure source, the HCU including a slip control valve arrangement, and a switching base brake valve arrangement for switching the brake system between the normal braking mode wherein boost pressure from the pressure source is supplied to first and second vehicle brakes, and the manual push through mode wherein brake actuating pressure from the BPU is supplied to the first and second vehicle brakes.

  • Patent number: 8615994
Abstract: A master cylinder assembly includes a cylinder body, a piston member operably fitted therein, and a pressure valve assembly to establish a variable fluid output upon operation of the piston member. The cylinder body includes two or more pressure chambers to hold hydraulic fluid, each having a transfer port. The piston member includes two or more pistons respectively received in the pressure chambers, and is operable to move the pistons, in parallel, to transfer hydraulic fluid through the transfer ports. The pressure valve assembly includes a selector and is operable to direct fluid transferred through selected transfer ports out of the cylinder body through an outlet port by means of a movable valve member that establishes a passageway communicating the selected transfer ports with the outlet port. A pivot adjustment mechanism allows adjustment of the lever's mechanical advantage, and a stroke adjustment mechanism allows adjustment of the lever's rest position.

Abstract: A master cylinder includes a housing and a first secondary piston disposed in the housing. The first secondary piston cooperates with the housing to define a first secondary chamber which changes volume as the first secondary piston moves in the housing. A second secondary piston is disposed in the housing and cooperates with the housing to define a second secondary chamber which changes volume as the second secondary piston moves in the housing. A stepped primary piston is disposed in the housing. The primary piston cooperates with the housing to define a primary chamber which changes volume as the primary piston moves in the housing. The primary piston defines an abutment surface which can be driven into abutment with the first secondary piston and the second secondary piston to move the first secondary piston and the second secondary piston. A primary piston spring maintains a restorative force on the primary piston when actuated.

  • Patent number: 5765375
Abstract: A waterpower machine has a vertical cylinder, the lower end of which is open, a piston which is vertically reciprocable in the cylinder, a water chamber provided at the lower end of the cylinder wherein the water chamber has a water inlet and a water outlet, an inlet valve for controlling water inflow into in the water chamber through the water inlet, and an outlet valve for controlling water outflow from the water chamber through the water outlet. Both the water inlet and the water outlet are opened towards the periphery of the water chamber over the major portion of the water chamber circumference. The water inlet is at a different level from that of the water outlet. The inlet valve and the outlet valve comprise respective ones of a pair of annular valve members which are concentric with one another and with the cylinder and axially moveable between a closed position and an open position.

  • Patent number: 4241584
Abstract: An apparatus for holding the speed of an engine to a fixed level with provision for increasing engine speed above that setting without losing the set point. A combination of piston and cylinder assemblies are joined together to control engine speed. An equipment attendant pressurizes one end of a closed hydraulic system to activate a hydraulic operator to change engine speed. Shutting an isolation valve, hydraulically locks that speed setting into the engine. With the isolation valve shut, a biased, bypass piston and cylinder assembly is activated to increase engine speed. The bypass piston and cylinder assembly is actuated by the same device used by the equipment attendant to pressurize the hydraulic system control initially.
