Abstract: To use a loose-fitting condom, a penis or prosthesis is covered loosely with a condom having a loose-fitting portion. The loose-fitting portion is twisted so that the loose-fitting portion closely covers the penis or prosthesis. The loose-fitting portion is then secured in the twisted state. An external penile prosthesis is provided, which includes a generally tubular body portion and a head portion. The head portion can be rotatable about the central axis of the body portion or include a plurality of flaps swingably attached to the body portion for adjusting an opening between the flaps. Further provided is a combination of the prosthesis and a loose-fitting condom. The condom has a flexible sheath which has a loose-fitting portion sized for loosely covering a penis or the prosthesis. The combination may further include a holder for holding the loose-fitting condom in a twisted position.

Abstract: A penile erection enhancing and sustaining device is for assisting in obtaining and maintaining an erection for men suffering with ED. This inexpensive constrictor can be quickly applied, easily adjusted and instantaneously released when desired. It is used to restrain the flow of blood from the penis during copulation. A Velcro® hook and loop fastener of sufficient length attached on opposite ends of a broad rubber strip adapts the constrictor to varying penis sizes. The broadness of the constrictor avoids the localized pressure caused by narrow rings and compresses and decreases the interior volume of erectile tissue within the penis thus increasing the pressure of the available blood. The preferred positioning the broad rubber strip is to encircle the penis at its base between the testicle and the body providing firm positioning and makes it relatively inconspicuous and unlikely to come in contact with the partner.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a non-invasive penile erection device having a constrictor ring designed to fit against the base of a male genital or penis, and a diaphragm seal that forms a substantially air tight seal against the constrictor ring. The constrictor ring is designed to comfortably and securely fit the base of the penis. The substantially air tight seal enables the pump to produce vacuum pressures of over 17 inches of mercury. The diaphragm seal is designed to collapse around the constrictor ring and remain on during sexual activity. The diaphragm seal cooperates with the constrictor ring to apply pressure to the surface of the penis. The placement of the constrictor ring on the base of the penis and the greater vacuum pressure achieved by the device tend to draw the root or “oz” of the penis into the constrictor ring so that a more natural erection is achieved and maintained after the vacuum tube is removed.

Abstract: This invention relates to the destruction of pathological volumes or target structures such as cancerous tumors or aberrant functional target tissue volumes by direct thermal destruction. In the case of a tumor, the destruction is implemented in one embodiment of the invention by percutaneous insertion of one or more radiofrequency probes into the tumor and raising the temperature of the tumor volume by connection of these probes to a radiofrequency generator outside of the body so that the isotherm of tissue destruction enshrouds the tumor. The ablation isotherm may be predetermined and graded by proper choice of electrode geometry and radiofrequency (rf) power applied to the electrode with or without temperature monitoring of the ablation process. Preplanning of the rf electrode insertion can be done by imaging of the tumor by various imaging modalities and selecting the appropriate electrode tip size and temperature to satisfactorily destroy the tumor volume.

Abstract: A system for controlling a plurality of ophthalmic microsurgical instruments connected thereto. The microsurgical instruments are for use by a user such as a surgeon in performing ophthalmic surgical procedures. The system includes a data communications bus and a user interface connected to the data communications bus. The user interface provides information to the user and receives information from the user which is representative of operating parameters of the microsurgical instruments. The system also includes surgical modules connected to and controlling the microsurgical instruments as a function of at least one of the operating parameters. The surgical modules are also connected to the data communications bus. The data communications bus provides communication of data representative of the operating parameters between the user interface and the surgical modules.

Abstract: A urethral occlusion device having a very malleable, flexible, deformable polymer occlusion band which may be easily wrapped about the exterior of the penis to provide sufficient pressure to prevent urine flow, but without restricting blood circulation. The occlusion band includes a silicone rubber shell with silicone gel liner surfaces which provide a washable, reusable, skin-sensitive bond when wrapped, and allow the band to be tightened to the patient's desired degree of compression. A plurality of pliant, deformable ribs are positioned on the occlusion band and oriented along the underside of the penis to mildly stretch the urethra to an occluded position.

Abstract: An improved penile tube and removal guide for use in a vacuum therapy system for achieving and maintaining an erection. The penile tube has an open, tapered end into which the penis is inserted and a stop ring positioned along the penile tube toward the tapered end. The removal guide has a stepped inner surface having a larger diameter portion and a smaller diameter portion which are concentrically located along the axis of the removal guide. The removal guide is mounted circumferentially on the penile tube and freely slides along the longitudinal axis of penile tube away from the tapered end of the penile tube until an inner flange of the smaller diameter portion engages the stop ring. The penile tube, stop ring, and stepped removal guide facilitate the placement of a configuration ring upon a penis while maintaining a vacuum in the penile tube. A mounting cone having a conical portion facilitates sliding the constriction ring onto the transfer sleeve of the penile tube.
