Including Means To Rotate Head About A Longitudinal Axis Of Body Patents (Class 601/25)
  • Patent number: 8579844
Abstract: A therapeutic traction device for increasing intervertebral spaces along a cervical spine of a user includes a user interface, a controller, a neck rest section, a crossbar provided with first and second clamps, a curvilinear back pad connected to an anterior side of the crossbar, and a utility box connected to a posterior side of the crossbar. The utility box includes a rectilinear driven rod partially seated within the utility box and statically mated to the neck rest section, and a mechanism for linearly reciprocating the driven rod along a first vertical travel path defined posterior of the back pad such that the neck rest section is synchronously raised and lowered above the crossbar. In this manner, the back pad remains statically mated to the crossbar while the neck rest section is raised and lowered along a second vertical travel path defined anterior of the first vertical travel path.

  • Patent number: 7601132
Abstract: A traction force is applied at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the patient's spine and progressively increased over a period of time. A fulcrum member is applied against the posterior portion of the cervical region of a person's spine while the traction force pulls the cervical region and bends it rearwardly about the fulcrum member to stretch the soft tissues of the spine. In preferred embodiments the fulcrum member applies a progressively increasing fulcrum force, and the traction force likewise progressively increases during the treatment period. An electronic control system may be used to automatically control application of the fulcrum and traction forces.

  • Patent number: 7556594
Abstract: The Fitness Device comprises a back contacting member and a leg contacting member, with a pivotally mounted contacting member that is attached to said back contacting member. When driven by a motor or hand-operated power source, said pivotally mounted contacting member causes the position of said back contacting member relative to said leg contacting member to change, applying more or less pressure to the user's back (depending on the movement of said back contacting member) and thereby allowing the user's back to stretch relative to said leg contacting member.

  • Patent number: 7549950
Abstract: A weight bar slide assembly, for use with weightlifting equipment having vertical guide bars that provide for an accurate simulation of the free weight lifting motion. The weight bar slide assembly has a weight bar sleeve to rotatably receive a weight bar. A rod is attached to the weight bar sleeve and extends outwardly therefrom. A rod sleeve rotatably receives the rod. The rod may rotate along its longitudinal axis inside the rod sleeve. The rod sleeve is attached to a vertical guide. The vertical guide is movably mounted to a vertical guide bar. The longitudinal axis rotation of the rod within the rod sleeve allows for the freedom of motion found in the free weight lifting motion. The weight bar slide assemblies attached to opposing ends of the weight bar may move linearly along the vertical guide bar independently of each other.

  • Patent number: 6695796
Abstract: The present invention 10 discloses a device that stimulates and provides chiropractic therapy to the neck and head area of the body. Using a hand-held remote control 68, the doctor or patient 12 utilizes a toggle stick 64 to perform single directional movement of the head 14 in a forward, backward, or side to side motion, or in a clockwise or counter clockwise rotational motion. The head cushion 16 includes a vibration and heating element 58 that is applied to the neck area that can be used alone or in conjunction with the directional and rotational movement. The present invention 10 cradles the head 14 within a cushion 16 that is adjustable vertically and laterally to optimize the positioning of the head and allow for comfort. The vibrating and heating element 58 is isolated from the rest of the head cushion 16 to eliminate transmission of vibrations or heat.
