  • Patent number: 10071015
Abstract: A method increases a tactile sensitivity of a fingertip of a user with a wearable device. The wearable device includes a vibrating element, an actuator for receiving user input, and a control circuitry. The method includes positioning the vibrating element on one of a user's arm, wrist, hand, or proximal finger segment and activating the vibrating element to apply a vibrating force at a first magnitude. The method also includes receiving user input indicating that the user detected movement of the vibrating element at the first magnitude and applying the vibrating force at a second magnitude, the second magnitude being lower than the first magnitude, to increase the tactile sensitivity of at least one fingertip of the user.

  • Patent number: 6267736
Abstract: Massage apparatus includes a base structure to be supported by the hand of a user. The base structure includes a first section to be positioned proximate a central portion of the hand and a second section to be positioned proximate a distal portion of the hand. The second section of the base structure is hingedly connected to the first section for articulated movement therebetween to correspond to movement of the distal portion of the hand. The base structure is a housing having first and second surfaces; a resilient pad is provided on at least one surface. Flexible members and a lip extend from the base structure to couple the user's hand with the massage apparatus. Drive motors are mounted on the second section to oscillate the base structure in at least two different directions. A controller independently controls the frequency in which the drive motors oscillate the base structure in each direction.

  • Patent number: 5601529
Abstract: A resilient covering panel is adapted to be placed upon the back of a user's hand. The forward portion of the covering member is divided into a pair of extensions, one being adapted to be placed adjacent the top of the user's middle finger, the second being adapted to be placed adjacent the top of the user's thumb. The rearward portion of the covering panel is integral with straps to be secured about the user's wrist. First and second direct current, vibrating motors are mounted within respective motor housings and are disposed through and coupled to the middle finger and thumb extensions. Securing members are affixed to the lower surfaces of each of the motor housings into which the user's middle finger and thumb may be inserted to secure the extensions in place. A pair of vibration controllers are mounted within a controller enclosure adjacent the base of the user's fingers.

  • Patent number: 5520616
Abstract: A baby burper apparatus aids in the release of stomach gas in a baby and includes a housing having one side having a generally arcuate surface shaped to fit onto a portion of a baby's body, which portion is padded. The housing can have a cloth covering and a hand support strap for holding a person's hand. A vibrating mechanism is mounted in the housing to vibrate the arcuate side of the housing and an electric switch allows the apparatus to be turned on and off with the same hand supporting the apparatus. The method includes selecting a baby burping apparatus as above and placing the arcuate side thereof onto a baby's body adjacent the baby's stomach area and then actuating the apparatus to vibrate or jiggle the area adjacent the baby's stomach to force eructation or release of gas from the baby's stomach. A cloth cover can be moved and cleaned or replaced.
