  • Patent number: 9257220
Abstract: A magnetizer for a tissue-penetrating medical tool such as a needle, cannula, stylet, or catheter consist of a magnetic flux generator which generates a magnetic field in a tool-receiving space. The tool can be passed through or into and out of the space to magnetize it. Optionally the space can be defined by a disposable plastics tube, with a closed end, so that a defined length of the tool is magnetized. The magnetic flux generator can be a permanent magnet or electromagnet. Alternatively a conveyor belt can be used to transport a tissue-penetrating medical tool through a magnetic field generated by an electromagnet with the belt and the electromagnetic being controlled in response to an optical sensor for detecting the position of the tissue-penetrating medical tool. • Patent number: 8721673
Abstract: The invention relates to medicine, in particular to reflexotherapy and can be used for producing long-term acupuncture action on a patient body. The inventive method for prolonged acupuncture treatment consists in determining acupuncture loci, in selecting the needle input and output points, in passing the needle through the selected needle input and output points, in keeping both needle ends outside the patient's skin, in securing the needle in this position by means of locks mounted on the needle ends and, after finishing the acupuncture session, leaving the needle in the patient's body for a specified time. Said method is characterised in that acusal tracts are formed in different histological layers of the patient's tissue by introducing needles and the points, situated in the area of the acupuncture loci and/or reflexogenic zone and/or indifferent zone, are selected as the input and/or output points for each needle.

Abstract: A bio-medical unit includes a power harvesting module, a processing module, and a pain management functional module. The power harvesting module converts an electromagnetic signal into a supply voltage, wherein the bio-medical unit is operable within a host body. The processing module determines an acupuncture point of the host body and a treatment duration. The processing module then generates a control signal based on the acupuncture point and the treatment duration. The pain management functional module receives the control signal and actuates a needling of the acupuncture point in accordance with the control signal.

Abstract: A puncturing guidance tube for a long and fine needle is invented that is comprised of: a cylindrical body forming a long tubal-shape, a head portion forming a funnel shaped rim, an upper portion (31) of the cylindrical body having a large diameter, a lower portion (32) of the cylindrical body having a small diameter, a transition portion disposed between the upper portion and the lower portion, wherein the large diameter is gradually reduced to the small diameter of the cylindrical body, and a needle gateway (33) forming a lateral opening vertically all along the cylindrical body for easily removing the guidance tube from an operating needle, so that the long and fine needle can be punctured without buckling during an initial operation of the puncturing. The overall length of the tube is about two-third of the needle and the opening width of the needle gateway (33) is wide enough to pass out the needle.

Abstract: The invention relates to the use of a sterile aqueous solution of a substance inhibiting the enzymatic decomposition of endogenous opioide neuropeptides, especially enkephalins, for producing a preparation provided for intravenous infusion, in order to intensify the action of punctual stimulation therapy carried out with an electrical current. One such substance is e.g. D-phenylalanine. In cases that are difficult to treat, pain can be effectively reduced or stopped by infusion of the preparation.

Abstract: A wireless magnetic needle system for traditional oriental medicine can apply a magnetic field to a needle being used for the acupuncture process on a patient by use of a Helmholtz coil capable of applying a magnetic field to a wide space and can apply a magnetic stimulus to the patient through the needle, thereby making it possible to maximize the therapy effect of the needle. The wireless magnetic needle system includes a current generating unit and a Helmholtz coil. The Helmholtz coil includes a first coaxial coil disposed over a bed for a patient, and a second coaxial coil disposed under the bed. The current generating unit generates a current, and the Helmholtz coil creates a magnetic field by using the current generated by the current generating unit.

Abstract: The invention includes an electro-acupuncture stimulation system for in vivo and in situ analgesia and tissue repair and regeneration. Electrodes, which can be acupuncture needles, are percutaneously implanted that deliver a pulsed electrical current that creates an electrical field, which envelopes the targeted tissue and restores cell-generating homeostasis to the affected tissue and thereby promotes analgesia and tissue re-growth in otherwise debilitated or deteriorating tissue. Methods and apparatuses are also disclosed that may include a needle locking system and acupuncture-needle assemblies for long-term in situ electrical stimulation.

  • Publication number: 20100137896

  • Patent number: RE42489
Abstract: A modality of twitch obtaining intramuscular stimulation (IMS) pain relief therapy employs an EMG needle having a Teflon coated shaft and exposed conductive tip to apply micro-electrical stimulation locally and focally to muscle motor end plate zones or regions of adjacent motor end plate zones. The electrical stimulation facilitates the elicitation of strong twitch responses from muscle fibers associated with the stimulated motor end plates, generally without requiring physical needle manipulation following the initial pin insertion. Less skill is required to effectively elicit pain relieving twitch responses, thus facilitating training of medical personnel to carry the procedure. Rapid movement between multiple treatment sites is possible allowing treatment of a larger number of afflicted muscles and muscle areas in a single treatment session. The strength and number of twitches obtained at the treatment sites can provide substantial relief from regional and diffuse myofacsial pain of radiculopathic origin.
