Abstract: An ice making assembly includes an ice mold defining a mold cavity and a refrigeration loop having an evaporator in thermal communication with the ice mold. A compressor is operably coupled to the refrigeration loop for circulating a flow of refrigerant through the refrigerant loop to cool the evaporator and the ice mold. After ice is formed, a flow regulating device may divert a portion of the flow of refrigerant around the condenser through a bypass conduit to slowly increase a temperature of the refrigerant within the evaporator.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an air-vapor separation device for separating air from refrigerant vapor comprising an air-vapor separation tank, a separation membrane, a mixed gas input passage, a refrigerant vapor output passage, and a control unit, wherein the mixed gas input passage is provided with a compressor and a first control valve, and the refrigerant vapor output passage is provided with a second control valve. The air-vapor separation device of the present invention has the advantages of simple structure, convenient operation, and is reliable and effective in separation of air and refrigerant vapor, with good separation effect.

Abstract: A process for separating a mixture of materials using a segregation media within a vessel having a central baffle structure which shuggles the mixture by oscillating the baffle structure at a frequency and amplitude. The mixture of materials may have overlapping densities with the segregation media having a density within the overlapping region. Polymers PE and PP may be separated in flake form. For a mixture of materials of differing densities, water may be the segregation media. Shuggling is combined with controlling the flow of water through the vessel at a set velocity. Embodiments are described for separating plastics and mineral ore.

Abstract: A condenser unit including a compressor for compressing a refrigerant vapor to provide a superheated refrigerant vapor exerting a head pressure, and a condenser for receiving the superheated refrigerant vapor and condensing the superheated refrigerant vapor therein, the condenser being located in an uncontrolled space with air therein at an ambient temperature. The condenser unit also includes a flow control means for controlling flow of the superheated refrigerant vapor from the compressor into the condenser, a rotatable condenser fan for moving air past the condenser to dissipate heat from the condenser, and a controller for controlling the flow control means and the speed of rotation of the condenser fan based on at least one preselected parameter, to maintain the head pressure within a predetermined range thereof.

Abstract: A water heater is provided having a sorption based reactor that is integrated into a water tank. The water heater is operated between an adsorption cycle and a desorption cycle. During the endothermic desorption cycle, a primary heat exchanger is used to transfer heat from a condensing primary fluid that was vaporized from the sorbate to water in the tank. A charging heat transfer system supplies heat for the vaporization during endothermic desorption cycle. During the exothermic adsorption cycle, a secondary heat exchanger is used along with a secondary fluid to transfer heat generated by adsorption of the primary fluid to water in the tank. An evaporator provides for vaporization of the primary fluid during the adsorption cycle. Substantial improvements in energy efficiency can be achieved.
Abstract: The invention is a portable ice maker that is powered by a propane flame. The propane flame introduces heat into an absorption refrigeration cycle consisting of a burner, separator, absorber, evaporator, and condenser. The absorption refrigeration cycle is housed in the rear of the invention and of which the front occupies the freezing compartment. The freezing compartment is encompassed by insulation, and of which the sides are aligned with the cooling coils. The freezing compartment is accessible via a front door, which is also heavily insulated. The freezing compartment is capable of storing a plurality of ice trays or for storing food that requires freezing temperatures in order to avoid spoiling.

Abstract: This invention relates to an arrangement in an absorption refrigerating apparatus, which operates with a pressure equalizing gas, and is provided with at least two absorbers. A height difference occurs between the liquid level in the standpipe of the boiler and the inlet level of the absorbers in order to supply absorption solution which is weak and refrigerant to the absorbers. At least a major part of the supply conduit is replaced by branch conduits, each one of which has a flow resistance which is at least double the difference between the flow resistances in said branch conduits.
