By External Cooled Liquid Or Holdover Patents (Class 62/201)
  • Patent number: 4215753
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a transportable cooling system for cooling drilling mud in the course of drilling for geothermal sources or deep well drilling. The cooling system includes a mud carrying radiator provided with a water sprinkler assembly and fan for cooling the exterior thereof. Both the water sprinklers and the fans are controllable in their rate in response to a signal combining the well outlet temperature. In this manner cooling demands of a well bore can be anticipated, allowing for deep well drilling.

  • Patent number: 4201061
Abstract: An automatic chilled water setpoint temperature control for use with a mechanical refrigeration machine. The control includes means to sense the magnitude of a first electric control signal which is produced by the machine and which is a function of the amount of work done by the compressor of the machine. The control also includes means to change the magnitude of a second electric control signal, which is also produced by the machine and which represents a variable component of the setpoint temperature, in response to a change in the magnitude of the first electric control signal so that the variable component of the setpoint temperature changes in response to a change in the amount of work done by the compressor. The control further includes means to delay changing the magnitude of the second electric control signal so that the amount of work done by the compressor becomes stable before the variable component of the setpoint temperature changes.

  • Patent number: 4191027
Abstract: An apparatus for cooling brine comprising a plurality of refrigerating units connected to a slow-current tank for brine in such a manner said refirgerating units are associated with successive portions of brine in said slow-current tank from the downstream side to the upstream side of said tank, one by one. The number of said refrigerating units taking part in the cooling work is increased and decreased in accordance with the temperature of said brine in said slow-current tank. The connection of said refrigerating units is selectively switched from series to parallel and vice versa with one another, with respect to the brine flow in said slow-current tank. Said means for switching the connection of said refrigerating units from series to parallel and vice versa are constituted by fluid element type shunting devices.

  • Patent number: 4171621
Abstract: A water source heat pump system having a plurality of zone air conditioning units, each unit adapted for selectively heating or cooling a zone independent of other units, each air conditioning unit having an air conditioner coil, a heat exchanger of the type having a water contact coil disposed within a housing, a refrigerant compressor, and refrigerant control means operable to selectively cause the air conditioner coil to act as a refrigerant evaporator or condenser and the water contact coil heat exchanger to act as a refrigerant condenser or evaporator, the water contact coil heat exchanger utilizing thermostat control means to control the operation of the air conditioning unit so as to prevent freezing of water in the water contact coil heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 3945432
Abstract: A method and system of air conditioning multi-storey buildings having a plurality of floors to be conditioned wherein at least one compartment air handling unit on each floor is contained within a fan closet. Fresh air conditioning means is located remote from the closets and feeds the closets with fresh air preconditioned as to temperature and humidity. The fresh air mixes with return air from the floor in the closet and the mixture is conditioned in said compartment unit and supplied to various spaces on the floor for balancing the cooling load in the space. The air mixture is supplied at a base temperature and variable air volume terminals control the amount of cool air entering the space.
