Time Or Program Actuator Patents (Class 62/231)
  • Patent number: 7185825
Abstract: A programmable thermostat for controlling space conditioning equipment receives power from the equipment. The thermostat has an interactive interface for user programming, a temperature sensor and a processor including: a central processing unit; a memory for storing program and data information, a real time clock and a non volatile random access memory. A control program stored in the memory causes the real time clock to periodically read its current time and date information into the non-volatile RAM. Upon restart after an outage, the time and date information stored in the non-volatile RAM is read into the real time clock to provide an acceptable time and date basis for resuming operation. Accordingly, the need for providing a backup power source, such as a battery or a supercap, is eliminated. In one exemplary embodiment, the thermostat also includes a receiver for accessing precision time and date signals from, for example, WWVB.

  • Patent number: 7152415
Abstract: A refrigeration system is employed to cool a refrigerated compartment in a kitchen or restaurant. An electronic refrigeration controller controls various aspects of the refrigerated compartment, including temperature. When a push button is pressed, a “sleep-mode” is activated to safely shut the refrigeration system down and turn the evaporator fan off. An employee can then stock or remove inventory from the refrigerated compartment without cool air blowing on the employee. After a predetermined amount of time, the sleep-mode ends and cool air blows into the refrigerated compartment.

The system is capable of adjusting a temperature separately and independently for the left and right sides of a passenger compartment, and stores a temperature setting map of preferences of respective passengers for the Dr side and Pa side. • Patent number: 6644053
Abstract: A refrigeration system for cooling a logic module includes an evaporator housing including an evaporator block in thermal communication with the logic module. The evaporator housing includes a humidity sensor for detecting a humidity within the evaporator housing. The system further comprises a controller for controlling a refrigeration unit supplying cold refrigerant to the evaporator block in response to the operating conditions of the logic module and the temperature of the evaporator block. In another aspect of the invention, two modular refrigeration units are independently operable to cool the evaporator block, and each refrigeration unit is controllable in various modes of operation including an enabled mode in which it is ready to cool the evaporator and an on mode in which it is actively cooling the evaporator. In another aspect of the invention, the evaporator block and a heater on a reverse side of the circuit board are particularly controlled during concurrent repair operations.

Abstract: An air conditioner and a method of controlling the air conditioner includes a variable capacity compressor being operated at a maximum capacity in a case of starting an operation of the compressor after an extended stoppage for a lengthy period of time longer than a preset reference time, thus increasing a flow rate of a circulated refrigerant during an initial stage of the operation and increasing a quantity of heat generated from the motor of the compressor to vaporize and forcibly discharge a remaining liquid refrigerant from the compressor during the initial stage. Therefore, the variable capacity compressor of the air conditioner does not require heaters conventionally used for heating the refrigerant during such a stoppage, and so easy designing and production of the compressor is achieved, in addition to a reduction in a production cost of the air conditioner. This air conditioner also accomplishes a reduction in a maintenance cost thereof.

  • Patent number: 6622926
Abstract: A thermostat comprising a software sub-routine for controlling the operation of an air conditioner and a stored value representative of the air conditioner's operating and non-operating time, which is indicative of the outdoor temperature and load on the air conditioning system. The stored value representative of operating time is evaluated by the software sub-routine, which responsively raises the set-point temperature when the stored value exceeds a predetermined level indicative of a high outdoor temperature. The economy feature can be manually enabled, or remotely enabled via an input signal from a phone or Internet connection.

  • Patent number: 6619059
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cooling an air conditioning system's condensing coils utilizing air filter pad made of glass fibers with self contained, perforated water capillary tubes allowing moisture to permeate the filter pad. The filter dads are connectable in series and provided with integral mounting strips for fixed or magnetic, internal or external attachment to the condensing unit. Special adaptive solenoids are also provided to allow for minimum flow of water over long periods of time. Dual sensors are provided connected to both the high and low side of the compressor for sensing compressor temperature status and switching the solenoid on and off, thereby preventing freezing. A unique method for applying chilled water to the capillary tubes by coiling the capillary tube around the suction line of the compressor is utilized.

Abstract: A refrigerator which is capable of being connected to the Internet and performing a variety of multimedia functions, and a method for controlling the same. A multimedia controller which controls the multimedia functions of the refrigerator is driven under the control of a refrigerator controller which controls refrigerating and freezing environments of the refrigerator. Even when an accident, such as a power failure or etc., occurs, the multimedia controller is given time in which it can be normally or closed down or ended. Therefore, a warning window is not displayed on a display unit of the refrigerator upon the driving of the multimedia controller, thus reassuring a user that the refrigerator has not failed.
