Patent number: 10215484Abstract: Embodiments of ice luge apparatuses and methods for making cascading ice luges are disclosed. Apparatuses embodying the principles of the invention feature shelves in a stepwise configuration and alternative configurations. The shelves are positioned by supporting structures. Ice blocks can be frozen in trays such that pre-formed lanes are formed in the ice blocks. The trays can be of convenient size that can be placed in a conventional household freezer. Ice blocks can be arranged and oriented so that a liquid or beverage placed on the uppermost ice block will flow in the preformed lanes in a cascading manner thereby rapidly cooling the beverage with minimal dilution.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2016Date of Patent: February 26, 2019Inventor: Stephen John Luther

Patent number: 9821425Abstract: A method for subcooling liquid cryogen that is used by a cutting tool uses the steps of dividing liquid phase cryogen between a subcooler feed line and tool feed line. The cryogen in the subcooler feed line is expanded to lower the pressure and decrease the temperature of the cryogen, and the expanded liquid cryogen from the subcooler feed line is added to the interior of a subcooler. A heat exchanger is positioned in the subcooler in contact with the expanded liquid cryogen. The cryogen in the tool feed line is subcooled below its saturation temperature by passing the cryogen through the heat exchanger, and the subcooled cryogen from the heat exchanger is supplied to the cutting tool. As a result, the subcooled cryogen supplied to the cutting tool is substantially 100% liquid cryogen without any vapor content.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2015Date of Patent: November 21, 2017Assignee: 5ME IP, LLCInventors: Ravikumar Kudaravalli, George Georgiou

Publication number: 20100281909Abstract: A reusable apparatus and process for dispensing, cooling and collecting a beverage are disclosed. In particular it relates to a beverage dispensers which may be used in a drinking establishment or party environment, which combines elements of decor or aesthetics with those of beverage cooling in a visible way. The dispensing part of the invention is via gravity induced flow, as the beverage is poured in to the top, flows along a channel on the surface of or through a tube within a container which holds chilled or frozen material but keeps it out of contact with the beverage, and releases the beverage to a receptacle, thus cooling the beverage flowing over or through the container. Methods and apparatus for using and enhancing the decorative nature of the container and cooling process are also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2010Publication date: November 11, 2010Inventor: Michael Carpanzano

Patent number: 7591391Abstract: The Invention is a tray for serving a beverage in a nightclub or tavern. A tray body defines a reservoir adapted to contain a beverage. A reservoir aperture communicates through the tray body and is controlled by a valve. A dispensing opening is defined by the bottom side of the tray body and aligns the drinking vessel with the reservoir aperture. The valve is actuated when a drinking vessel is placed in engagement with the dispensing opening. A plurality of drinking vessel receptacles located on the top side of the tray are adapted to support drinking vessels.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2005Date of Patent: September 22, 2009Inventor: Peter Nielsen

Patent number: 6763675Abstract: An apparatus and method for preparing, chilling and dispensing a beverage is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a plate of frozen plate material supported by a base block. At least one conduit is cut into the frozen plate. The conduit 40 may be an open channel, partially enclosed channel or a tube. When the apparatus is oriented for use, the plate is fixed at a downward slope angle such that the conduit follows a overall downward path. A beverage is poured from a dispenser into the conduit at a beverage entry. The beverage flows down the conduit contacting and being chilled by the conduit surface. A portion of the conduit surface may melt and enter the beverage. The beverage is then collected in a receptacle.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 2003Date of Patent: July 20, 2004Inventor: John H. Fleeman

Patent number: 4157018Abstract: A system for advancing trays of foor or other material to be frozen or heated through a vertically oriented housing is provided with improved means for loading the trays at one end of the housing, causing incremental advancement of the trays and removing them from the other end of the housing. The device includes a removal drawer at the outlet end which, when closed, supports the stack of trays in the device. When the drawer is opened, the stack advances downwardly and the lowermost tray in the stack is removed from the bottom of the stack and is drawn outwardly with the drawer. During opening of the drawer, other means are employed to support the stack of trays after the stack has moved downwardly one tray increment. When the drawer is reclosed, the trays are again supported by the drawer. A cold (or hot) medium is introduced into the housing at a plurality of levels.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1977Date of Patent: June 5, 1979Assignee: Teckton, Inc.Inventor: Costas E. Goltsos
