In accordance with the invention, the method consists in projecting a refrigerant medium into the cooling section (4) onto the surface of the strip (1) to be cooled, the medium being constituted for the most part by a phase-change substance that passes into the gaseous phase at a temperature that is lower than the temperature of the strip (1) and without oxidizing said strip so that energy is exchanged within an endothermic process by a change in the phase of said phase-change substance.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2009Date of Patent: July 23, 2013Assignee: CMI SAInventors: Maroun Nemer, Maria Zoghaib, Denis Clodic, Diala Abdo, Stéphane Langevin, Patrick Dubois

Patent number: 8470383Abstract: A liquid additive is sprayed over liquid nitrogen to form discrete solid particles of the additive in liquid nitrogen. The mixture of additive particles and liquid nitrogen is mixed with a flow of liquid nitrogen at an eductor pump to provide a food treatment composition comprising additive particles. The food treatment composition flows into an interior of food processing equipment to come into contact with food items contained therein.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2010Date of Patent: June 25, 2013Assignees: American Air Liquide, Inc., Air Liquide Industrial U.S. L.P.Inventors: Vasuhi Rasanayagam, David C. Patent number: 8459046Abstract: The present invention relates to processes for the preparation of a batch of an active pharmaceutical ingredient, e.g. an allergen product. The invention also relates to a container comprising cryogranules of a liquid composition of an allergen product, and to a cryogranule of an allergen product. The processes feature formation of cryogranules using a container having therein a cryogenic medium (e.g. liquid nitrogen) and storage of the cryogranules in the same container. The cryogranules obtained can be stored and handled without prior freeze-drying.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2010Date of Patent: June 11, 2013Assignee: Alk-Abello A/SInventors: Martin Richter-Friis, Signe Andersen Kolmos

Patent number: 8429925Abstract: A device 1 for cooling hot liquid food items to drinking temperature comprising a cooling system 2 containing a coolant 19 with a cooling line 13 and an inflow for the hot liquid and an outflow for the cooled liquid. The device includes at least one filling vessel 3 connectable with its opening 5 to the end side of the cooling system containing the inflow to the cooling system. For connecting the filling vessel to the cooling system, each of the two parts includes complementarily cooperating connection elements 9, such that for the process of cooling a virtual unit can be formed, and as a function of the defined quantity of liquid flowing from the filling vessel into the inflow of the cooling system, and the temperature and of the quantity of the coolant, the liquid flows from the outflow of the cooling system at a temperature specified within narrow limits.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2012Date of Patent: April 30, 2013Inventor: Dieter Marx

Publication number: 20130091876Abstract: A temperature control system and method include a source of a temperature control medium that is to be introduced into a space. A fluid line conveys the temperature control medium from the source to the space, a first end of the fluid line being disposed in the space. An orifice assembly has an orifice through which the cooling medium flows toward the space. A size of the orifice is adjustable such that a rate of flow of the cooling medium entering the space is controllable.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 18, 2011Publication date: April 18, 2013Applicant: TEMPTRONIC CORPORATIONInventor: Chuan WENG

Publication number: 20130045870Abstract: An International Organization for Standardization (ISO) shipping container 10 includes a cryogenic refrigeration system 14 for cryogenically cooling superconducting magnet(s) 12A, 12B during transit. The cryogenic refrigeration system 14 monitors the temperature and/or pressure of the superconducting magnet(s) and circulates a refrigerant to the superconducting magnet(s) to maintain cryogenic temperatures in superconducting coils. A power supply 16, provided by a transportation vehicle, connects to the cryogenic refrigeration system via a power inlet 20 which is accessible from the exterior of the shipping container. The superconducting magnet(s) are suspended within the shipping container which is then loaded onto the transportation vehicle. The external power supply is connected to the cryogenic refrigeration system such that refrigerant is circulated to a cold head 22A, 22B of each superconducting magnet.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2011Publication date: February 21, 2013Applicant: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS ELECTRONICS N.V.Inventors: John R.
