  • Patent number: 4785642
Abstract: A decorative clip for use as a jewelry item is disclosed which shines and glitters in the dark and emits perfume. This shining and glittering effect is achieved by placing an LED or an LCD device powered by a small battery beneath a decorative housing. When the clip is worn, the circuit between the battery and the LED or LCD is completed such that current may flow. In addition, a perfume dispenser is provided integral to the clip such that a fragrance is continuously emitted without interacting with the body chemistry of the wearer of the clip. The perfume dispenser is detachable so that the perfume may be changed or refilled as the wearer desires.

  • Patent number: 4742695
Abstract: A brooch comprising two parts (1, 2) is provided with a hinge (4) and a hinge pin (3). Pocket-like cavities (5, 6) are provided in the brooch parts (1, 2) diametrically opposite the hinge (4). A spring pin (7) is soldered in one of the pockets (5) which locks positively in the pocket in the other part of the brooch when it is closed. A pin (10) is affixed to one part of the brooch and extends across the brooch from an area remote from the hinge to an area adjacent the hinge on the other part of the brooch (2) where an eye (11) is provided. As the two parts (1, 2) of the brooch are swung open or shut, the tip of the pin (10) moves into or out of the eye (11). A notch (12) is provided at the joint between the two parts of the brooch (1, 2). The fastener according to the present invention is particularly compact, hardly increases the thickness of the piece of jewelry concerned and makes possible the creation of a number of new designs of jewelry.

  • Patent number: 4733544
Abstract: A jewelry member comprises an elongated, resiliently flexible coil spring element, a jewelry post on one end of the coil spring element and a jewelry clutch on the other end of the coil spring element. The jewelry member can be worn as a pierced earring by passing the post through an aperture in an earlobe of a wearer and then assembling the clutch on the post so that the spring element is retained in a substantially circular ring-like disposition. The jewelry member can alternatively be assembled in end-to-end relation with other similar jewelry members by assembling the post of each jewelry member with the clutch of another jewelry member to form an enlarged ring which can be worn as a necklace or a bracelet.

  • Patent number: 4195492
Abstract: A post to extend through the pierced hole in an ear lobe. One end of the post has a stop that is positioned against one surface of the ear lobe. The opposite end of the post has a small male snap connector portion. A smooth and flat back with a small female snap connector portion therein is snapped on the post against the other surface of the ear lobe to retain the post in the pierced hole, but if the post or the back is pulled, the back automatically releases from the post to prevent injury to the ear lobe. The back has a barrier that prevents the post from passing completely through the back. The stop has and the back may have a connector portion for attaching interchangeable ornaments. When worn with no ornament attached, the earring is essentially nonsnaggy. Interchangeable ornaments are provided with mating connector portions to hold the ornament to the post during normal activity but whenever an ornament is pulled, to automatically release the ornament from the post to prevent injury to the ear lobe.
