  • Patent number: 9955758
Abstract: A jewelry item has a ring part pivotally attached to a closure at one end. The closure spans the continuity of the ring from an end of the ring part and comprises a ring continuation arm extending in continuity of the ring and pivotally attached to and of the ring part at a pivoted connection. The closure further comprises a bias arm extending along with the ring continuation arm along said ring continuity. The bias arm comprises a spring part and a lever part pivotally attached to each other. A connection between said lever part and the ring part is rigid, so that as the ring part is opened, said lever part is configured to rotate inwardly towards an interior of said item. The spring part has a natural shape of smaller circumference than the ring part so that once a certain extent is reached, the spring part pulls the lever part towards the spring part in order to allow the spring part to attain its smaller diameter and thus establish a stable open position.

  • Patent number: 8156759
Abstract: The present invention particularly relates to a novel type of hinge to be used for sequentially interconnecting different elemental jewelry units of a jewelry item. Type of hinge constructions used in jewelry making of prior art do not permit the jewelry item to retain during use its appropriate shape which is required for bringing out beauty value of the jewelry item like the diamond-studded necklace. The necklace may present itself as an ordinary metal chain, which, as if, “falls down loose”, giving a U-shape or any other unplanned shape. Hinge-construction of prior art does not restrict movement of different elemental jewelry units in different unplanned directions. The difficulty becomes more pronounced when very small size diamonds are used in the necklace. The novel type of hinge of the present invention provides two mating pairs for each elemental jewelry units permit each unit to have predetermined appropriate amounts of clockwise and anticlockwise rotational motions.

  • Patent number: 5584195
Abstract: A wrist writing instrument which can be conveniently carried on a wrist like a bracelet and writes as a regular pen, comprises two major parts: First, a partially reinforced flexible barrel or a partially sectionalized barrel (34), with a plurality of rigid tubular sections and a continuous reinforcing member on which the sections are serially connected and reinforced along one side of the barrel. The reinforcing member is a structure or of a material which is flexible laterally but substantially rigid under longitudinal stretch. The above barrel can only be bent towards the reinforced side, the flexible side, and can not be bent towards the other three sides, the stiff sides. Second, a stiffening means (44) which structurally has at least one bendable side and at least one non-bendable side, is inserted into and pivotally mounted in the barrel (34) for a releasable stiffening of the wrist writing instrument.

  • Patent number: 5475989
Abstract: According to the invention, a crimp and crease resistant metal chain necklace is provided which is composed of adjoining rigid metal chain segments preferably a flat stiff metal chain such as herringbone, serpentine or cobra chain made from a precious metal, preferably gold or silver. The ridged metal chain segments are of the type which are susceptible to crimping and creasing in ordinary usage and which cannot be folded without damaging the chain. The metal chain segments are interconnected by hinged connectors which are preferably integrally attached to such metal chain segments to provide a crimp and crease resistant chain which can be folded to a small size and preferably to about the length of the longest rigid metal chain segment. Preferably the hinged connector includes at least one rod about which the chain segments can pivot. Preferably the rod, is concealed within the necklace to give a smooth, flat appearance.

Abstract: A bracelet-like appliance for the treatment or prevention of carpal tunnel syndrome includes a C-shaped member having a central portion located over the dorsal side of the wrist and two arms encircling the wrist. Each arm has a pad for engaging the palm near the attachment edges of the carpal ligament at the medial border and the lateral border of the carpal bones. The bracelet also includes a pad attached to the central portion for engaging the dorsal part of the wrist. The member is shaped to cause the pad attached to the central portion to press against the dorsal side of the wrist while the ends of each arm press in the opposite direction on the edges of the palm. The C-shaped member is a single piece of resilient, malleable material, such as aluminum, or is divided into sections interconnected by spring loaded hinges.

Abstract: A gem setting comprised of a plurality of interconnected links. Each link has a male end at each end, an opening for receiving and holding a gem stone therein, and an apertured raised portion forming a platform for setting the base of the gem stone when assembled. A rimmed embossment presses over the top edge of the gem stone holding it securely in place. The embossment, along with a plurality of prongs, secures the gem stone in place. A female opening is provided in each link between the gem opening and the raised portion. In assembling, the male ends of one link are grasped together, the gem stone being disposed in the opening with the raised portion abutting against the base thereof, the base of the stone entering the aperture in the raised portion, and inserted into the female opening, then turned to lock one link to another forming the setting.

Abstract: An integral watch band is comprised of a plurality of beam portions adjacent to one another in the lengthwise direction of the band. Each beam portion has two major faces opposed to each other and two side faces disposed between the two major faces in opposed relation to each other in the widthwise direction of the band so as to define between a pair of adjacent beam portions a corresponding pair of side faces adjacent to each other in the lengthwise direction. Each pair of adjacent side faces has a pair of arm portions protruding outwardly from the respective adjacent side faces in the widthwise direction. A plurality of elastic bridge portions are integrated with the beam portions through the arm portions to form the integral band.
