Mold Rotary About Own Axis Patents (Class 65/266)
  • Patent number: 7958747
Abstract: The cake (7), fitted with the rough pressing (71) of the stem parison (61) is situated on the ring (8) where by the action of its own gravity, it streams off till the rough pressing (71) fits into the cavity (41) of the bottom mould (4). There the rough pressing (71) is fastened by the underpressure and the air is blasted into the flask (6) and, in the same time, the bottom mould (4) is forced downwards. When the orifice (42) of the cavity (41) comes on the level of the surface (51) of the bottom opening of the glass-blowing mould (5), the glass-blowing mould (5) is closed and the air is blasted into the flask (6) until it obtains the shape of the inner wall (52) of the glass-blowing mould (5).

  • Patent number: 5090988
Abstract: A bottom plate for an H-28 machine is secured to a post which is received within a hollow stud and sits on a ball bearing supported within the stud. The post which has an annular groove cooperates with a plurality of locking pins which can be held in operative relation with the post groove or released by a rotatable collar.

  • Patent number: 5015279
Abstract: Apparatus for removing a fused silica glass object from a rotating pot has a gripping member which grips the upper rim of the fused silica glass object and a rotational synchronization member connected to the gripping member which is lowered vertically into frictional contact with the rotating pot. The rotation of the pot drives the rotation of the synchronization member which drives the rotation of the gripping member. The object can be withdrawn vertically from the pot without the angular velocities of the object and pot diverging.

  • Patent number: 4964902
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of making an object of silica glass, such as a crucible, according to which a pot capable of rotating about its axis is filled with a refractory pulverulent material. The pot is rotated and a cylindrical cavity is formed in the material, the axis of which coincides with that of the pot. The bottom and the wall of the cavity are then formed to a certain thickness with a silica-rich material. This silica-rich material is melted, the object thus produced is cooled and then extracted vertically by an extraction mechanism comprising a gripping member which is rotating, at least initially, at the same speed as the pot.

  • Patent number: 4200449
Abstract: A multi-section blow molding machine for the manufacture of hollow glassware has in each section a parison mold for each pair of blow molds. The blow molds are disposed below and on opposite sides of the center of oscillation of a neck ring arm carrying rotatable neck rings and arranged so that the mold or molds on one side are open when those on the other side are closed. The molds and neck ring arm are interconnected to oscillate together in opposite directions between lockable positions 180.degree. apart. The parison mold and associated feed and plunger means are movable in and out of operative position below and above the neck ring arm respectively, and operate in timed relation thereto. The open blow molds are spray cooled during the blowing cycle as well as during oscillation of the neck ring arm between its locked positions. In the closed blow molds, the blowing is continued simultaneously with the spray cooling to further cool the molded articles prior to release to a take-out conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4052187
Abstract: Apparatus for producing a glass parison comprises a spindle and a plunger mounted in the spindle for axial displacement. Mechanism is provided for axially displacing the plunger relative to the housing. A press mould has a cavity for carrying glass melt and is movable into a working position aligned with the plunger so that the plunger may enter the mould cavity. A recess is provided in the housing in communication with the mould cavity to receive excess glass melt displaced thereinto in response to positioning of the plunger within the mould cavity. The plunger functions as a valve to alternately block and establish access between a blowing air passage and the front end of the plunger to allow air to be blown against a glass parison being produced. Retaining ring segments which partly define the melt-receiving recess are pivotable between a first position retaining a parison in place, and a second position allowing removal of the parison.

  • Patent number: 4004905
Abstract: An apparatus for forming glass containers wherein the glass is expanded to its final shape in a blow mold. A blowhead is brought onto vertical registry with the blow mold cavity. In the conventional Hartford I.S. forming machine, the mechanism for moving the blowhead onto and out of registry with the blow mold is pneumatically operated. The blowhead and the arm that supports the blowhead or blowheads is of considerable mass, and when an operator is required to change blow molds, or in some instances repair mechanisms which are at the blow mold location, it is necessary to maintain the blowhead in its up position. Air lockout systems have been used in the past but have not been foolproof. Accidents may occur. The present invention utilizes a mechanical lockout arrangement which locks the piston rod in its elevated position to avoid any possibility of the blowhead dropping.

  • Patent number: 3951637
Abstract: A machine for forming hollow articles of vitreous material includes at least one forming station provided with at least one forming means and for each forming means a neck ring means carrying a parison and including a pair of neck ring halves and a guide ring coaxially carried by the neck ring halves and rotatable relative thereto. The guide ring which engages the parison at its mouth is rotated to thereby impart to the parison a rotary motion relative to the remainder of its forming means which may comprise a split mold to thereby avoid formation of seams or fins on the finished hollow article and to improve the surface quality thereof.
