  • Publication number: 20030005730
Abstract: A compound needle (1) is provided with a slider (8) having two slider springs (11, 12). These are arched away from each other in a section immediately adjoining their insertion funnel (28). The compound needle has a slider slit (4), which initially is relatively narrow at its inlet (15), so that a guide section (4a) has been established there. Thereafter the slider slit (4) widens, so that a running section (4b) is established. The lateral bulge of the slider springs (11, 12) is of such a dimension that the slider (8) runs free in the running section (4b), and is guided without lateral play in the guide section (4a). The compound needle (1) also operates precisely in case of tension forces acting laterally on the slider (8) and requires only a small opening width of its funnel (28).

  • Patent number: 6339942
Abstract: A compound needle comprises a closing element with two closing element springs. These are designed to be asymmetrical relative to each other or at least provided with clearances or openings which, during the operation of the compound needle, are made to overlap with a corresponding cutout or other openings in the basic compound needle member, so that deposits can be removed to the needle channel. An asymmetric design of the closing element springs prevents the closing element from being wedged into the closing element channel, even if the deposit removal is incomplete. As a result, the compound needle wear is reduced considerably and the operational safety is increased.

  • Patent number: 5275023
Abstract: The invention relates to a device on a knitting machine equipped with slider needles for controlling the laying in of a thread (28) into the open needle hooks (5.2). In order to avoid that the thread is not laid into the hooks correctly or that a thread which has already been laid into the hook, jumps out of the hook (5.2) during the closing movement of the slider parts (6) on account of vibrations or the like, the slider parts (6) of the slider needles are provided with inclined faces (6.5) which project when the hooks (5.2) are closed into the thread spaces (32) formed by these hooks and the needle and slider parts (5,6). In this way the thread portions between the thread guide (29) and the slider needles are pressed deeply into the thread spaces (32) during the closing movement of the slider parts (6), so that the thread sections laid into the following slider needles with hooks still open come securely into the respective thread spaces (32) or are retained therein FIG. 3).
