  • Patent number: 7908891
Abstract: A knitted glove made by creating each of the sections of the glove using a separate knitting course on a flat knitting machine providing variable stitch dimensions. Each of these sections provides its own designed stretch characteristics so that the glove fits tightly, yet provides flexibility and ease of movement. The variable stitch dimension is achieved by 1) varying the depth of penetration of a knitting needle into a fabric being knitted by a computer program, 2) adjusting the tension of yarn between a pinch roller and a knitting head by a mechanism controlled by a computer, and 3) casting off or picking up additional stitches in a course. The glove includes a plurality of finger components made from at least ten separately knitted sections, two palm components, each of which is made from at least two separately knitted sections, and a wrist component made from at least one knitted section.

  • Patent number: 7246509

  • Patent number: 7047768
Abstract: A knitting method of a tubular knit fabric uses a flat-knitting machine comprising at least one pair of facing needle beds that extend in the sideways direction and face each other front to back. At least one of the facing needle beds is capable of racking in the sideways direction, and the flat-knitting machine is capable of transferring stitches between facing needle beds. The tubular portion with directionality toward (oriented with respect to) another tubular portion is turned by a predetermined amount by transferring of stitches of the tubular portion with directionality and by racking of the needle bed. Knitting is performed so as to link the tubular portion with directionality to the other tubular portion in a state wherein the state of being turned is sustained.

  • Patent number: 6782720
Abstract: The present invention relates to a unilayer flexible performance fabric which may be fabricated into apparel and articles having high performance fibers, such as high tensile modulus fibers positioned within a base fabric in at least one preselected location only where required to import performance characteristics which are equal to or exceed the specifications for the garment. For example, if cut resistance is a requirement, performance fibers which provide such protection from this hazard would be used. Likewise, if abrasion resistance is intended for an apparel such as coveralls, only the knees and elbows would require the performance fiber. Thus, reducing the amount of expensive fibers normally used. The invented fabric is manufacturede in a method in which the placement of the fabric in preselected locations is computer controlled.
