Abstract: The present invention is a hair controller for mounting on a stretching machine used for stretching a pelt on a pelt board. The stretching machine has at least one holder for engaging the pelt. The hair controller includes a device for moving hair aside to expose a selected area of leather on the pelt, in particular the area of leather engaged by the holder. Also disclosed is a method for moving the hair of a pelt aside before the pelt is fixed by a holder in a stretching machine.
Abstract: Using modern pelt boards (2) with surface (10) with open structure (12) in connection with drying out pelts (36), where the pelt is retained in stretched position during the drying procedure with a holding bag (44), which in an area near the tail part of the pelt is pressing the pelt against a special holding area (4) n the surface of the pelt board, there may occur areas of the pelt where it can't be retained sufficient during the drying procedure, to maintain the stretched size, and further the occurs areas where the pelt is not dried out sufficient and thus becomes moldy or rot.
Abstract: A support system for an acoustic instrument has connecting elements of flexible material extending between and attaching the instrument and a support frame to support and/or balance the weight of the instrument and isolate acoustic frequencies, thereby eliminating deleterious acoustical effects. Embodied exemplarily herein as a support system for a drum, flexible elements extend between and attach the drum head hoop to a circular frame or support that fully or partially encircles the drum. The flexible elements may be made integral with the drum head and/or its head skin.
Abstract: In connection with the non-destructive stretching and fastening of pelts (2) on distention elements/pelt boards (4), where the pelt is stretched and fastened in the stretched position during the drying process by means of a fixing bag, it has shown that the pelts give way (shrink) on each side of the tail root of the pelt, with the result that use is made of a number of staples for the fastening of these places on the stretched pelt. Since it is not at all desirable to use staples, a development of the pelt boards (4) has taken place, so that these have an arched extent around two transverse axes in relation to their longitudinal axes. Moreover, it has long been desirable to be able to stretch the pelts to a greater degree, which has not been possible with the use of the known stretching machines.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fur-pelt system adapted to maintain the highest in pelt quality in relation to industry standards. The pelt system comprises: a stretch board having a generally rectangular form and a planar surface through which a plurality of evenly spaced perforations are made to accept nails or the like. Several sized patterns are provided in order to best fit a pelt to the largest pelt size according to industry specifications with minimal amounts of waste fur. A user thereby estimates the end-size of a newly caught fur and proceeds to stretch said fur into the closest to perfect form desired by industry thereby increasing user's chances of a more valuable pelt.
Abstract: A method, a system and a pelt board for the drying of the leather side of pelts from furred animals, in which the pelt board is a hollow distension element, the surface of which has an open structure. The leather side is dried by changing the air within the distension element. The distension element is lockable in a position in which it has a first circumference, and can also assume a position or be force controlled to a position in which it has a circumference which is smaller than the first, which results in a considerably easier removal of the pelt from the pelt board. A quicker, more uniform and more effective drying of the pelts is achieved, so that “black spots” on the leather side are avoided, and the pelt is fixed in its stretched position on the pelt board without the use of clips/staples.
Abstract: The present invention is a method for fixing a fur on a pelting board (6) which is temporarily held in a pelting board holder (2), where the fur is put on the pelting board (6), where end parts of the fur are retained in a fur holder (3), and where the fur is stretched on the pelting board (6) to a desired length. Preferably the end part of the fur is fixed on the pelting board (6) by winding with a winding material (13), such as a band. The invention further is an apparatus (1) for securing a fur on a pelting board (6), where the apparatus (1) includes a pelting board holder (2), a fur holder (3) and a band winding unit (4), and where the band winding unit (4) is arranged for moving around the pelting board holder (2).
Abstract: A pelt drying assembly having a pelt board used in the drying of the leather side of a pelt which, in use, is applied to, stretched and secured on the distension element in the stretched position during drying, and a sleeve/bag made of fat and moisture absorbing material for covering the pelt secured in the stretched position by having been drawn over the fur side of the pelt so as to press the pelt against a holding area of the distension element. The sleeve/bag is tubular for drawing onto the pelt board from a pointed end thereof until it covers at least a part of the holding area on the distension element, and has a length equal to at least 1/3, preferably 1/2, of the length of the holding area of the distension element.

Abstract: A method for the continuous wet stretching of industrial hides and other similar products comprises the following steps: a) removal of uniformly wetted hides following a treatment with liquids, such as tanning, re-tanning or the like, b) partial pre-drying of the wetted hides so as to reduce their residual relative moisture to a value of between 35% and 65%, c) stretching of the moist hides by means of localized mechanical stresses applied in directions which are substantially perpendicular to the plane of lie of the hides so as to achieve a predetermined increase in surface area, d) drying of the stretched hides until they have a residual relative moisture of between 7% and 30% so as to stabilize and thermally fix the stretched hides. The hides are kept in substantially constant relative humidity conditions with the mechanical stresses distributed uniformly over the entire surface area of the hides.
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for fleshing, stretching and drying leather or similar flat materials such as skins and furs. The device consists of movable lamellae which can be extended from the center outwards and which under vacuum and the cooperation of a pressing device provides a smooth, gliding heatable contact surface on which the stretched and fixed piece of leather is simultaneously dried thereby minimizing any frictional forces encountered when stretching leather in a vacuum. Moisture is evacuated through channels, raised areas, perforations in one of the lamellae thereby improving the stretching effect and uniformity of the stretched leather across its entire surface without wrinkling.
Abstract: A fleshing device for removing flesh from a hide includes a hide supporting structure for supporting the hide so that the hide extends in a substantially vertical hide plane. The device also includes a fleshing tool having a fleshing blade for removing the flesh from the hide and a tool supporting structure for movably supporting the fleshing tool so as to allow the fleshing tool to be moved in a tool plane substantially parallel to the hide plane while the fleshing blade operationally contacts the flesh.

Abstract: A process and apparatus for the treatment of hides and skins (3). The hide or skin is placed on a support (1, 2) and sealed to the support around the edges of the skin or hide. A treatment liquor is then supplied under pressure between the skin or hide and the support to distend and stretch the skin or hide to permit the more rapid penetration of the treatment liquor into the skin or hide.
