  • Patent number: 8655543
Abstract: A vehicle on-board unit communicates with vehicles to increase the accuracy of lane centerline determination. The on-board unit includes a communication system and a controller. The controller has a vehicle path history generating component, a lane centerline determining component, and a message processing component. The vehicle path history generating section generates a host vehicle path history data. The lane centerline determining section receives a preceding vehicle message including at least a preceding vehicle centerline data from the communication system and determines a host vehicle lane centerline data indicative of a centerline of the lane based on the host vehicle path history data and the preceding vehicle centerline data. The message processing component produces a host vehicle message including the host vehicle lane centerline data, the communication system being configured to broadcast the host vehicle message.

  • Patent number: 8167621
Abstract: A training device is described for perfecting the art of forcibly opening a door in an emergency. The training device has a frame and a door placed in the frame. A dead bolt is mounted in the door and protrudes from the door in a locked position relative to the frame. A vise is attached to the frame. The vise has a movable jaw mounted on a block and a stationary jaw, and means for tightening the movable jaw against the dead bolt. The dead bolt protrudes from the door between the stationary and movable jaw. A method of using the training device causes the door to pivot and the dead bolt to move off of the vise, thus simulating an actual forced opening.

  • Patent number: 7526930
Abstract: A method of determining a particular value on a display, comprises the steps of: moving a time log relative to a time line until the time line identifies a selected time on the time log; moving a plurality of values on the display in synchronism with the moving of the time log relative to the time line; and identifying one of the plurality of values on the display when the time line identifies the selected time on the time log, the one of the plurality of values on the display representing the particular value. The particular value on the display comprises a depth on a depth log representing a depth of a drill bit in a borehole. The depth log moves in synchronism with a movement of the time log when the time log moves relative to the time line.

  • Patent number: 7219052
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for document based ambiguous character resolution. An application searches a document for words that do not contain ambiguous characters and adds them to a dictionary, then searches the document for words that do contain ambiguous characters. For each ambiguous word, a set of candidate solutions is created by resolving the ambiguous characters in all possible ways. The dictionary is searched for words matching members of the candidate solution set. When a single member is matched, the ambiguous characters are resolved accordingly. When no member or more than one member is matched, a user is prompted to resolve the ambiguous characters. Alternatively, when more than one member is matched, the ambiguous characters are resolved to obtain the largest word, the smallest word, the most words, or the fewest words.

  • Patent number: 6393878
Abstract: A mortise lock is provided including a housing for a latch bolt and a deadbolt which are mounted in the housing for movement between a retracted position where the latch bolt and deadbolt are inside the housing and an extended position where a portion of the latch bolt and deadbolt extend from the housing. A key-operated cylinder in the housing operates to move the deadbolt between the retracted and extended positions. A latch operator is also provided for retracting both the latch bolt and the deadbolt. A moveable blocking element in the housing prevents movement of the latch operator in one position of the blocking element. A locking lever operatively connects the deadbolt and the blocking element so that when the deadbolt is extended the blocking element is automatically moved to the position blocking the latch operator. The locking lever comprises an arm member integral with the locking lever.
