  • Patent number: 6598432
Abstract: A trailer hitch lock is disclosed that is particularly useful for preventing the theft of trailers that utilize pintle-type hitches. The lock includes a pair of steel plates which are hinged at one end. An upstanding steel projection is located substantially at the center of the interior of one of the plates. When the plates are pivoted toward their closed position, the pin fits within the opening of the trailer hitch pintle. The forward end of each of the plates includes a flat steel locking flange extending toward the other plate. Each steel locking flange has a hole passing therethrough which cooperates with the other when the plates are in their closed positions so that a padlock can be passed therethrough to maintain the device in a closed position. Located to either side of these cooperating locking flanges are a further pair of steel guards which protect the padlock by preventing a cutting tool from reaching the padlock.

Abstract: A locking mechanism having a box with a hinged lid in which the box and hinged lid form a circular aperture between them when the lid is closed. The box has an anchoring flange attached which is used to anchor the box to the chassis of a vehicle. The box is anchored and the lid then closed with the aperture around the end of the bar which must be lifted before the third seat can be removed from a sport utility vehicle. Integral with the box is a locking mechanism consisting of a curved bar which holds the lid shut and a turning lock stop. The curved bar removably penetrates the box and has a groove cut across the portion of the bar which fits through the box. The turning lock stop can be moved into a position in which it prevents turning or removal of the curved bar. The turning lock stop can be turned only by means of a key or secret combination.

  • Patent number: 6349575
Abstract: A cable lock system having a length of cable, a female lock housing and a male lock housing. The cable has a lug attached to each of its ends and after the cable is wound through the various apertures of items to be secured, the lugs are inserted into lug apertures in the side wall of the tubular sleeve portion of the female lock housing. The male lock housing has a cylinder bore hole and a lock having a locking tang fixedly secured in the cylindrical bore hole. The male lock housing is telescopically received in the bore hole of the female lock housing with its front end pressed against the respective lugs on the end of the cable member. By turning a key in the lock, the locking tang is directed radially outward into an internal annular groove in the female lock housing thereby preventing removal of the male lock housing from the female lock housing. The structure of the assembled parts prevents access to a rounded head nut on a carriage bolt that secures the female lock housing to a support wall.
