In this position, the lock assembly rotates a cam plate so that an engaging disc engages both the knob enclosure and a stud plate allowing torque applied to the enclosure to be transferred to the threaded stud.     Abstract: A lock and coupling apparatus for securing fire hydrants is disclosed. The two piece apparatus comprises an inner member concentrically received within an outer cylindrical member. The inner member is formed with a socket for receiving the five sided hydrant valve post. A snap ring connects the outer member to the inner member while permitting rotational movement therebetween. A square lock pin moveable between locked and unlocked positions is provided to lock the inner and outer members so that rotational movement of the outer member is transmitted to the inner member. A specifically designed wrench for imparting rotary movement to the outer member is also disclosed.

    Abstract: The present invention comprises a lug nut which has two separable portions connected by a frangible neck, wherein a first portion engages the threads of the stud, and a second portion provides a surface adapted to engage a wrench so that the lug nut may be driven into the stud. When the stud-engaging first portion has been threaded onto the stud and sufficiently tightened, continued application of torque cause the frangible, wrench-engaging second portion to shear off from the stud-engaging first portion. The stud engaging portion has an annular notch which is adapted to engage a snap ring located in the wrench-engaging portion. After the wrench-engaging portion is severed from the stud-engaging portion, the wrench-engaging portion is then reversed and positioned onto the stud-engaging portion. When so positioned, the snap ring engages the notch, which rotatably secures the wrench-engaging portion to the stud engaging portion.

The closure is protected against attempts to disengage it from the conduit by bonding the shield to the threaded element with an adhesive and rotating the shield.

In a preferred embodiment the pin is formed identical to a conventional trailer king pin or coupling pin so that the pin cover may be used either to lock the trailer doors or as a theft prevention device covering the king pin to prevent unauthorized coupling of unattended trailers.

    Abstract: The coupling pin of the trailer of a tractor-trailer rig is provided with a theft prevention device for preventing the unauthorized coupling of unattended trailers. The device includes a truncated conical housing having a cylindrical sleeve which is secured to the inner base of the cone and is adapted to receive the coupling pin. The coupling pin is held within the sleeve by means of a pair of opposed, spring-biased locking jaws which normally protrude through a pair of opposed slots in the sleeve. In order to engage the reduced diameter portion of the coupling pin. The locking jaws are mounted on a pair of U-brackets. The brackets carry a pair of camming surfaces which are engaged by the wing cams of a key-operated lock. The lock is preferably recessed within the housing so that it cannot be sheared off during use. The invention has the additional utility of serving as a safety device for preventing the movement of a trailer during unloading operations.
