Hood Patents (Class 70/240)
  • Patent number: 11434671
Abstract: A vehicle hood pin apparatus is disclosed which contains an outer housing with holes to accept a cotter pin or other self-locking device, an inner pin with holes that can mate with the holes on the outer housing, and an electric switch attached to the housing to communicate signals to the vehicle, and in mechanical connection with the inner pin. By mating the holes in the inner pin with the holes in the outer housing and inserting the cotter pin or other self-locking device into the mated holes, the hood is closed securely on the vehicle and the electric switch sends a signal to the vehicle.

Abstract: The invention relates to a motor vehicle door lock, comprising a lock case (1) and also comprising at least one locking mechanism (2, 3) supported in the lock case (1), which locking mechanism consists essentially of a rotary latch (2) and a pawl (3). In addition, a lock housing (5) connected to the lock case (1) is realized. The lock case (1) is mostly L-shaped in the cross-section. In addition, the lock case (1) describes a locking-mechanism plane (G) and an end-plate plane (S) different from the locking-mechanism plane. The end-plate plane (S) is equipped with a bridge part (7), which spans at least one inlet opening (E), and two side parts (6). According to the invention, the lock case (1) is equipped with merely the two side parts (6) bordering the inlet opening (E), without a bridge part. In contrast, the lock housing (5) acts completely or partially as a bridge part (7).

  • Patent number: 4441345
Abstract: A lock device for locking the hood of a vehicle equipped with a pivotal latch. A mounting bracket is bolted to the vehicle at a location adjacent to the hood latch behind the vehicle grill. A key operated cylinder lock carries a cam which controls a spring loaded locking arm. A flange on the locking arm engages the latch release lever to prevent it from releasing the hood when the cylinder lock plug is turned to the locked position. The cam releases the locking arm when the cylinder lock is unlocked, and a spring pulls the locking arm away from the release lever to permit unlatching of the hood. In a modified form of the lock device, the cam acts directly against the latch release lever to provide the sole means for operating the latch.

  • Patent number: 4335909
Abstract: An articulated linkage locks the various access panels, covers, and plates opening into an engine and its accessories. A spring loaded shaft is used to drive a bell crank and a set of catch bolts. Each catch bolt is matched with a catch plate joined to one of the panels, covers and plates granting access to the engine and its components. A pair of doors covering the instrument panel is used to reposition the spring loaded shaft and bell crank. Locking the doors together therefore locks the catch bolt and catch plates together in one stroke and with one lock.

  • Patent number: 4312197
Abstract: A device comprising a lock with a rotating knob and incorporated bolt, capable of being blocked by the release of the rotating-knob unlocking control. The release results from the shifting of a blocking lever 13, 113 of the plate of the lock. The lever is operated by either a remote-controlled driving organ, or directly by the cylinder bolt. The blocking lever can, in addition, be inhibited by a locking lever 55, 155 operated from inside the trunk so as to neutralize the remote control.

  • Patent number: 4237709
Abstract: A locking mechanism for lids, hoods, flaps and/or doors, especially in motor vehicles, which cooperates with a cylinder lock whose lock cylinder is provided with a lock part adapted to be pressed-in against the force of a spring. The lock part includes, at its cylindrical outer surface, a pressure pin which is swung by rotation from an operating position to a non-operating position. In addition to the pressure pin, a lug is arranged at the outer surface of the lock part adapted to be pressed-in. The lug is operatively connected with an additional locking mechanism in such a manner that the additional locking mechanism becomes operable only over a limited rotary range of the lock cylinder adjoining the inoperable position of the pressure pin--as viewed in the locking direction.

  • Patent number: 4070880
Abstract: The present disclosure provides means for locking the engine compartment hoods of vehicles by a device which is detachably secured to the fixed vehicle body structure below a side edge of the hook and has a threaded upward extension which projects upwardly between the edge of the hood and the vehicle body structure. A nut engages the threads of the upward extension and overlies a side edge of the hood to prevent opening the hood. A specially keyed wrench is required to remove the nut and thus release the hood lock.

  • Patent number: 3979144
Abstract: The invention relates to a lock for the hinged lid, panel or bonnet of a motor vehicle. Said lock comprises a locking hook pivoted to a support by means of a pivot pin, and a keeper coacting with said hook, said hook being urged to its open or release position by a torsion spring interposed between said hook and said support, and means for locking said hook in its closing or locking position in relation to said keeper, said locking means comprising on the one hand said spring reacting against said support by means of an arm having a certain freedom of movement as far as the distance between said arm and the hook axis is concerned, and on the other hand manual control means coacting with said spring arm for varying said distance between said arm and said hook axis, whereby said spring arm will coact according to its distance from said axis with either a stop member for locking said hook in its locking or closing position, or another stop member for retaining said hook in its opening or release position.

  • Patent number: 3966244
Abstract: An installation for securing pivotal hoods or flaps, particularly engine hoods for motor vehicles, which are unlatched from the interior space of the vehicle and can be released externally from a locked or stop position by a lever secured at a safety hook which itself is pivotally mounted spring-loaded at the hood and cooperates with a fixed counter-member; after the release of the interior latching mechanism, the safety hook is pivoted into a locking or stop position by an upwardly directed movement of the hood, in the course of which the lever pivotally mounted at the safety hook is displaced out of a normal, covered-off position into an externally accessible position for the disengagement out of the stop position.
