Patent number: 6382000Abstract: A vehicle anti-theft system (10, 10′, 10″) is provided which includes a pair of housing members (12, 12′ and 14, 14′), each having a respective cavity (122, 142) into which an upper portion of a vehicle automatic transmission gearshift lever (2, 2′) is received. The securement of the housing members (12, 12′ and 14, 14′) prevents access to a release button (4, 4′) carried by the gearshift lever (2, 2′). A lock (16, 16′) is provided to releasably lockingly secure one housing member (12, 12′) to the other housing member (14, 14′).Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2000Date of Patent: May 7, 2002Inventor: Sherie A. Patent number: 6239966Abstract: A housing, in particular for electric switchgear and control gear, includes a first housing part and a second housing part to be detachably attached to the former. The housing also includes a lock whose at least one blocking element is movable in a displacement direction from an open position into a closed position by an operating slide connected to it, with the first housing part having at least one element engageable in a recess in the second housing part in the closed position, with a seating face arranged parallel to the displacement direction, and a section of the blocking element being in contact with the seating face on a side of the recess opposite the operating slide.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1998Date of Patent: May 29, 2001Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Gerhard Thomas, Karl Wutz, Ehrenfried Fabry

Patent number: 6116370Abstract: A new anti-theft system for permitting removal of the gear selection shaft from a vehicle having a gear selection console with an aperture extending through it that permits external gear selection of a transmission, thereby preventing theft of the vehicle. The inventive device includes a transmission engaging lever that is movably mounted to a transmission. The first end of the transmission engaging lever is insertable into the lower end of a shaft member that extends through the aperture in the console. A release lever extends from the aperture of the shaft member towards the lower end of the shaft member. The second end of the release lever has a flange extending from it that is inserted into a notch in the transmission engaging lever when the release lever is in an engaged position, thereby coupling the shaft member to the transmission engaging lever.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1998Date of Patent: September 12, 2000Inventor: Fernando Marina Puigbo

Patent number: 5899100Abstract: The instant invention is a locking mechanism for transmissions having a floor mounted selector switch. The invention utilizes a base member which is attached to a support post of the transmission selector lever. The base member includes provisions for holding loose coins and miscellaneous items. When the vehicle is left unattended, the locking mechanism utilizes a spherical cap which locks to the base member. With automatic transmissions the handle is locked together so as to conceal the handle and prevent access to the actuator button. When used in combination with a manual transmission, the cap engages the base of the transmission housing to prevent depression or movement of the selector handle. In this manner, the vehicle cannot be moved as the transmission is disabled. The spherical shaped cap inhibits cutting, tensile steel bands used on matching caps prevent the mechanism from being pried apart when locked.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1997Date of Patent: May 4, 1999Inventors: Christopher Rundle, Michael Borell

Patent number: 5806350Abstract: An anti-theft device has a substantially cylindrical body composed of two semi-cylindrical shells, and structure for hingedly connecting the shells with one another at one circumferential end so that the shells are turnable between an open position in which the other circumferential ends of the body are spaced from one another and a closed position in which the cylindrical body is arranged on a steering column and the other ends of the shells are locked with one another, the cylindrical body being formed so that it completely covers the ignition lock in the closed position so that an unauthorized person can not get access to the ignition lock, and structure for locking the other ends of the shells in the closed position.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1997Date of Patent: September 15, 1998Inventor: Stanislav Savinsky

Patent number: 5404736Abstract: An attachable vehicle hand brake lock assembly capable of being selectively attached over the end of a push button-activated hand brake to prevent its release. The lock assembly includes a cylindrical shaped body designed to be placed longitudinally over the upward extending end of the hand brake handle. The body includes an upper lock, a central threaded section, and a lower, threaded clamping section. The lock assembly also includes an outer sleeve with internal threads capable of being interconnected with the threads on the body enabling the sleeve to be moved upward and downward over the body during use. When initially attached to the handle, the lower section which is made up of two clamping arms is slanted and biased outward away from the outer surface of the handle to enable the lock assembly to slide easily over the handle. When the sleeve is rotated and moved downward over the clamping arms, their inner surfaces are forced inward against the handle to hold the lock assembly in place thereon.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1993Date of Patent: April 11, 1995Inventor: Nicolas R. Lugo

Patent number: 5020390Abstract: A locking device includes two caps for enclosing a head portion of an automatic shifter bar. A channel is formed in one cap and a block is provided on the other cap. The block which has one or more holes is engagable within the channel. A lock with a pin is provided above the channel. The caps are locked in a lock position when the lock is depressed downward so that the pin is engaged in either hole of the block and so that a press button of the automatic shifter bar can not be depressed and can not be operated.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1990Date of Patent: June 4, 1991Inventor: Yu M.
