Abstract: A window guard latch with emergency release comprising a bracket having a channel for receiving a portion of the window guard, a lock for engaging the portion of the window guard received in the channel, the lock having a trigger for releasing the engagement with the window guard, and a solenoid linked to the trigger to operate it. A control box, mounted inside the building has an RF signal detector and means to activate the solenoid in response to the detector to release the window guard. Smoke detectors which trigger an RF transmitter and portable push button RF transmitters can transmit an RF signal to remotely activate the release mechanism.
Abstract: Two embodiments of anti-theft devices for motor vehicles, each of which includes a locking device that is engageable with the steering mechanism for preventing steering of the vehicle. A remotely positioned operator is connected to the locking device by a breakaway connection that prevents operation of the locking device if the connection is tampered with. In one embodiment, the device is operated electrically and in the other embodiment, it is operated mechanically.
Abstract: Apparatus for actuating a vehicle power assist member from outside the vehicle, the vehicle power assist member including actuating means located inside the vehicle, the apparatus comprising a transmitter means which includes an incorporated switch, the transmitter means for emitting a single radio wave pulse upon actuation of the switch, means electrically coupled to the power assist member actuation means for receiving the radio wave pulse from the transmitter means upon activation of the transmitter means and converting the radio wave pulse into electric current wherein the power assist member actuation means is activated.
Abstract: Disclosed is a lid lock structure for a hinged lid of a recess which is made in a car body to conceal a fueling port. The lid lock structure includes a latch housing containing a bolt and having a plate spring at its head. The bolt catches a catch leg extending from the back of the hinged lid when closed, whereas the plate spring is yieldingly bent to constantly apply pressure to the lid while it is closed. When the bolt is retracted, the lid is unlatched to snap open. The built-in spring structure facilitates assembly work.
Abstract: The invention relates to an antitheft device for trailers and semitrailers comprising a threaded rod which can be screwed in a block integral to a fixed portion of the trailer or semitrailer and having one end thereof idly engaged in a body integral to a linkage leading to the levers which actuate the brakes of an axle of the trailer or semitrailer. By screwing or unscrewing the threaded rod in said block it is possible to achieve the locking or the releasing of brakes. When brakes are in their locking position, acting on a latch control member operable by means of a key it is possible to engage one end of the latch within an annular groove formed in the threaded rod, so that the latter is prevented from moving axially. During this stage the other end of the latch acts on a non-return valve connected to the service brake circuit in order to allow the brake fluid to flow in one direction only.
Abstract: A remote control door-lock device connected to front and rear door lock devices for an automotive vehicle used to lock/unlock the front and rear vehicle doors from a position near a driver seat comprises one or two guide plates having a slot formed therein and one or two actuation members having projection pins on one side thereof and an opening on the other side thereof. The guide plates are controlled by a remote control lever via a cable, and the slots thereof engage the pins so that the guide plates control the position of the actuation members, but with some mutual free travel. The actuation members also engage with front and rear door lock members, usable by passengers, so that if the remote control lever is actuated, the door lock members are in turn actuated to lock the respective doors, and to disable the door lock members. That is, the door lock members can be actuated either directly or by the remote control lever.
Abstract: A deadbolt lock protector including an outer metal enclosure, covering the lock, and attached to the door by means of non-removable screws. Inside the enclosure is a pin, formed of non-magnetic material such as brass, held alongside the thumblatch of the lock, preventing it from turning. The pin is held in that position by brackets and underneath by a support member. This support member's attachment is pivotable, and a cable is attached to it, so that from a remote position, the cable may be pulled, allowing the pin to drop out of the enclosure, in turn allowing normal use of the lock by means of a key. An extender straddles the thumblatch, so that the thumblatch can be turned from the inside of the door. The narrow portion of the extender, however, which passes through the enclosure, is relatively weaker than the pin, so that when the pin is in place, and the extender is forced, the extender will break before the pin.
Abstract: The invention relates to a steering column jacket of the steering column of motor vehicles which surrounds the steering spindle and contains a steering column assembly having a steering column switch or a switch rest. The steering wheel end of the steering column jacket forms a sleeve portion closed in the circumferential direction and receives a steering spindle bearing. From the front end of the steering column jacket a longitudinal rib extends, the flanks of which lead the steering column switch during the assembly, a window for the locking pin of the steering column lock being adjacent thereto.
Abstract: An automobile trunk lock which permits the trunk to be opened from outside or inside thereof. One end of a release arm is connected to a cylinder lock in the trunk lid and the opposite end extends through the latch release of a latch mechanism. A key is engaged with the inner terminal of the release arm. Actuation of the cylinder lock by a key or rotation of the interior key effects rotation of the release arm about its longitudinal axis to trip the latch release to disengage the latch mechanism and open the trunk.
Abstract: A motor vehicle has a luggage compartment with a lid secured closed by a lock operable both by a key, and by a knob disposed in the passenger compartment.
