Abstract: A storage device which fits within the rim of a spare tire and can be locked to secure its contents against unauthorized access and to lock the spare tire itself. A pan shaped container has a closed bottom which is secured to the hub of the wheel by the same fasteners that mount the spare wheel to its mounting bracket on the exterior of the vehicle. The interior of the container provides a storage compartment for tools and other articles. A removable cover panel encloses the storage compartment and can be locked in place on the container by a key operated cylinder lock. The storage device can be used with a flexible tire cover which covers the spare tire and is secured to the cover panel of the container by the cylinder lock in cooperation with a large washer.
Abstract: A lock for securing an automobile storage battery of other automatic accessory from being stolen when the vehicle is left unattended, the lock consisting of a pair of L-shaped brackets securely mounted on an existing battery tray replacing the battery hold-down, the brackets being formed of a carbonized steel and provided with horizontally extending slots in the upper ends of each vertical upstanding member through which opposite ends of a double ended sliding double bolt operated by means of a key cylinder lock project when the key is turned by the operator. The key cylinder is imbedded in a steel cover for the rectangular container containing the bolts and the locking bar is centrally and pivotally mounted on the lower end of the cylinder by means of a shear pin which, when the key is removed from the lock, will shear upon any attempt to drill the cylinder and hence be unable to function for disengaging the bolts from their engagement with the brackets enclosing the battery.

Abstract: A jack holder for a jack of the type including a post and lifting elements includes an L-shaped base and cover; a hinge pivotally connecting the base and cover for movement between a jack-receiving or removing open position and a closed position in which the lifting elements of the jack are housed within the open-ended casing defined by the closed base and cover, and the jack post extends beyond the ends of the casing; flanges partially closing the open ends of the casing; and sealing strips connected to the flanges for closing the remainder of such open ends, the sealing strips having profiled free edges for forming a continuous seal around the jack post at each end of the casing for protecting the lifting elements from the atmosphere.
Abstract: A steering mechanism lock which may be closed when the steering mechanism is turned to the full in a given position, a hood for covering the fuel tank and the pump and other accessories mounted on the sides of the tank, and a hook sliding in the steering mechanism tube and fitting in an opening of the upper part of the hood. Inside the tube, a pin cooperating with a sleeve precludes the raising of the hook out of the opening so long as the steering mechanism has not been turned to the full in the direction opposed to the direction for locking the steering mechanism.
Abstract: A battery locking means comprising two nuts adapted to be threaded to the top ends of two battery hold down posts respectively located on opposite sides of the battery. One of the nuts has a single chain link attached thereto and the other nut has attached thereto a chain link of a length of chain. The length of the chain is sufficient to extend over the battery to allow one of its links to fit around a single link of chain whereby the shackle of a padlock may be inserted through the single link to prevent removal of the battery.
Abstract: Apparatus for protecting and preventing theft of in-dashboard mounted vehicle radios and the like is shown wherein the locking apparatus is attached by means of the very same threaded shafts which are utilized as the primary mounting means of the radio instrument itself. The threaded mounting shafts of the radio instrument secure a backing plate to the face of the dashboard and a cover is removably connected to the back plate in such a manner that it may be locked over the mounting shafts as well as the operable portions of the instrument.
Abstract: A trailer coupling part which comprises a housing with a ball entry opening in the housing through which in use a towing ball is entered into the housing to complete the trailer coupling. A lever, provided with a handle, is pivotal in the housing between open and closed positions. A tongue, complementary contoured to the shape of the towing ball, is pivotal on the lever. When the towing ball is in position within the housing and the lever is in its closed position, the tongue contacts the towing ball to retain the latter in position within the housing. In the absence of a towing ball within the housing, and with the lever in an open position, the tongue automatically pivots through the ball entry opening in the housing. Moving the lever to the closed position causes the tongue to take up a position closing the ball entry opening.
Abstract: An attachment fastener is provided in the form of a threaded bolt having a head. Radially displaced threaded axial holes in the head are provided with set screws which, when installed, are recessed within the head and project into an adjacent support arm or to a member to which the bolt is attached. Thus, removal of the bolt requires the prior removal of at least one set screw in order for the bolt to be rotated.
Abstract: A lock for securing an automobile storage battery from being stolen when the vehicle is left unattended, the lock consisting of a pair of vertical bars which at their lower ends are hook shaped so to anchor through a tray upon which the battery is placed, the bars being positioned adjacent opposite sides of the battery so to retain the battery therebetween, and a crossbolt extending across the top of the battery being padlocked within the upper ends of the vertical bars.
Abstract: A locking device used to lock a trailer towing mirror to a vehicle is disclosed. The trailer towing mirror is of the type which is mounted between the seam bisecting the hood and fender of the vehicle and the edge of the wheel well of a fender of the vehicle and has a plurality of supports which connect to the vehicle and which connect to each other and are fixed in relationship with respect to one another by at least one turnbuckle. The locking device includes an elongated member having a first end and a second end and is formed of a material substantially resistant to sundering. In the first end of the member is a first hole of sufficient dimension to fit over one of the supports and in the second end of the member is a second hole of sufficient dimension to allow a shank of a lock to pass through the second hole.

Abstract: A citizens band radio locking device for attachment to a stationary structure of vehicle which includes a frame structure which comprises a C-shaped bar member and a rectangular bar member transversely fixed to the C-shaped bar. The C-shaped bar carries a key actuated lock and a spindle which may be secured by the lock or removed therefrom bridges the opening between the ends of the C-shaped bar to confine and secure a CB radio within the frame structure.
Abstract: In certain types of locking devices a lockable, tool operated set screw is utilized to impingingly hold a pair of elements together. It is intended that the set screw cannot be operated unless it is unlocked and a tool is applied to a portion thereof. However, tamperers have discovered that a flexible cord or the like inserted into a crevice between the impinged elements and wrapped about a threaded shank portion of the set screw, can be effective for unauthorizedly turning the set screw to release the members held together by the set screw. To overcome this type of tampering the present invention provides a set screw in which the threads on its extreme outer end portion are eliminated and said portion of the set screw shank carries a freely turnable sleeve. Hence, should a tamperer apply a flexible cord or appliance to the accessible portion of the set screw (that which carries the turnable sleeve), pulls on the cord will only result in free turning of the sleeve without any turning of the set screw.
Abstract: This invention relates to affixing and securing against theft, a radio (AM, FM, FM Stereo, Tape Player or any combination(s) thereof) or the essential circuitry thereof to a motorcycle and encompasses the optional placement of one or more headphone(s) within the protective helmet.
